Marshall Park Dedication, November 8, 1997, Augusta, Kentucky (Bracken County) It is only fitting that the week before our nation celebrates Veterans Day, Marshall Park, located at the corner of Second and Frankfort Streets in Augusta will be dedicated. The park is named in honor of General George Catlett Marshall, Jr., U. S. Army Chief of Staff during World War II; creator of the Marshall Plan, and Nobel Prize winner. Marshall's parents, George and Laura Bradford Marshall, were natives of Augusta. A gift from Nick and Nina Clooney, the beautifully landscaped park includes three bronze plaques carrying the names of 21 Bracken Countians who lost their lives in World War II.
