I Margaret Alexander of the County of Bracken and state of Kentucky, Knowing the uncertainty of life and the great certainty of death, do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God, hoping and believing in a remission of sins by the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ and my body I commit to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner. After my funeral expenses, Just and lawful debts are paid I give and devise my wourldly estate as follows to wit. First give and bequeath to Jack Alexander a free man of colour, one good bed beding and bedsted. I give and bequeath to my brothers John Alexander and Andrew Alexander three dollars each. And to my brother-in-laws Samuel Masters, Sam'l Pilson, William Hollis and to my nephew James T. Weems I mak no gift or bequest. I give and bequeath to Sucky Mary ann and Margaret Alexander, Children of Frederick and Levina Alexander, free persons of colour, Property to wit Two beds and furniture two Beaureaus, and one side Saddle. I give and bequeath to Frederick Alexander free man of Colour my sorrel Horse, also five notes of hand of one hundred dollars each on him or such of them as shall remain unpaid at my death, Said notes are the ballance of the consideration money for the farm I sold him, it being the same whereon he now resides and bear date 22nd October 1829, and in case Frederick Alexander aforesaid should depart this life before this testament shall take effect, then it is my desire that Levina's Children shall enjoy these and any subsequent desires made to Frederick Alexander - namely Jefferson and Sucky Children of said Levina and David Archy Gabriel James Maryann and Margaret children of said Frederick and Levina Alexander. I give and bequeath to Jefferson, David Archy Gabriel and James Children of Frederick and Levina one hundred Pounds should my Executor collect that amount for any monies due me other than those spoken of. And in case said sum of one hundred Pounds or a less amount shall be collected it shall be paid to Frederick Alexander whom I hereby appoint their Guardian who shall pay to each one respectively his equal part with interest. And lastly I give and bequeath to Frederick Alexander his heirs &c forever The residue and remainder of all my estate real and personal whatsoever which has not been dispose of herein before after paying off my debts legacies funeral expenses and other charges of selling of my said Estate. I do hereby appoint John Colglazer Ex'or. of this my last will and testament and do not require of him to give any security to said Court but authorise him by these presents to proceed in the discharge of his duty as Executor as aforesaid without giving security as is required by Law unless otherwise directed as in this instance. Hereby revoking and annulling all wills and testaments heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my seal this 23rd day of August 1830. This instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Margaret Alexander dec'd was this day produced in open Court and proven by the oaths of John H. Thompson and Wm. P.
