Macy, Sr. 1932 - 1997 Leonard R. Macy, Sr., age 64 of Lodiburg, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at his residence, after a lengthy illness. Born November 23, 1932 in Breckinridge County, the son of the late William and Ava Cashman Macy, he was retired from Commonwealth Aluminum. Mr. Macy was a veteran of the Korean War, a member and a deacon of Dry Valley Baptist Church, a bus driver for the Breckinridge County Board of Education, a former Breckinridge County Deputy Sheriff, a former Hardinsburg City policeman and a former Magistrate of the 3rd District. Mr. Macy is survived by his wife Joyce; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie Macy, Muldraugh and Sarah and John Saylor, Mayfield; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Leonard Ray Macy, R., Hardinsburg, and Billy and Tonya Macy, Russellville; a foster son, David Compton, Webster; a sister, Dorothy Hull, Irvington; three brothers, Gordon Macy, Central, IN, Doug Macy, Pleasure Ridge Park, and Donnie Macy, Irvington; and two foster-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Rosebush, pastor of the Dry Valley Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Dry Valley Cemetery at Lodiburg, with the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Joey Allen, Frankie Osborne, John Allen, Kevin Nash, Dan Saylor and Anthony Greco. Mary Wallace Miller Beerup 1926 - 1997 Mary Wallace Miller Beerup, age 70, of Mt. Vernon, IL, died Sunday, July 13, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Dale Beerup; a son, Robert Dale; a daughter, Carol Ann; a sister, Bernice Miller Rodgerson of Richmond, VA; a brother, Orville Miller, Jr. of Hardinsburg; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Jarboe USA Ret. 1911-1997 Colonel Jesse J. Jarboe, USA Ret., passed away on July 14, 1997, in Amarillo, TX. Burial with full military honors, provided by an honor guard from Ft. Hood, TX, was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, July 16. Colonel Jarboe was preceded in death by Dorothy Hacherott in 1969 and Evelyn Higgins in 1995. Col Jarboe was born in Hardin County, KY and was a graduate of Breckinridge County High School at Hardinsburg, and was one of three sons of the late George and Florence Jarboe of Glen Dean. In 1932 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Medical Department. In 1965, when he retired from active duty, he was awarded the Army Legion of Merid Medal. He had tours of duty in Korea, Europe, Hawaii, Colorado, Texas and the U.S. Army's Surgeon General's office in the Pentagon. He became a rancher in Naravisa, MN and stayed there for several years. In 1972 he moved to Amarillo, TX. Colonel Jarboe was a mason and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Dee Ann McCarty of Naravisa, NM; two sons, George Jarboe of Windsor, CO, and Richard Jarboe of Arvada, CO; a brother, retired Air Force Colonel Wallace Jarboe of Suwanee, GA; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Wilson, age 75, of Harned, died Friday, July 18, 1997, at his residence. Born October 176[sic], 1915, he was the son of the late Coleman and Bessie Smiley Wilson, a retired farmer and a member of the Rhodes Memorial United methodist Church. He is preceded in death by twin sons in 1946. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Jean Mercer Wilson; two daughters, Sheila Sills, Harned and Kathy Taabor, Hardinsburg; one son, Eddie Wilson, Harned; two sisters, Ruby McCoy and Edith Miller, both of Hardinsburg; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 21, at the Rhodes memorial United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Kingswood Cemetery, with the Trent-Dowell Funeral in charge. Dorrance Verl (Bud) Froment 1925-1997 Dorrance Berl (Bud) Froment, age 72, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. He was a native of Jackson County, Michigan, the owner of Bud's Bullfrog Restaurant at Rough River, the former owner of VRF Insurance Agency, an Army AirCorp Veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion Post 81, past president of the Downtown Louisville Optimist Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. Mr. Froment is survived by one daughter, Judy Powell; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 19, at Schoppenhorst-Neurath & Brooks Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, with the Rev. Kevin Hamm of the Little Flock Baptist Church officiating. Entombment followed in the Resthaven Memorial Park. -- Submitted. Mildred A. Dennis 1924 - 1997 Mildred A. Dennis, age 73, of SeRee, died Monday, July 21, 1997, at her residence. Born on February 14, 1924 in Breckinridge County, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Effie Carman Armes, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Dennis is survived by three daughters, Jerry Drane, Hardinsburg, Norma Clark, SeRee and Vicki Fentress, Harned; two sons, Dennie Whitworth, Elizabethtown and Michael Dennis, Florida; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Stevenson officiating. Sherman Allen Dowell 1915 - 1997 Sherman Allen Dowell, age 81, of Evansville, IN, and formerly of Breckinridge County, died Saturday, July 19, 1997 at his residence. Born in Breckinridge County, October 16, 1915, the son of the late John Henry and Anna Bell Stillwell Dowell, he was a retired farmer of Ogleheart Farms in Evansville, IN. Mr. Dowell is survived by his wife, Carrie Laslie Dowell of Evansville, IN; three daughters, Lilliam McKannen, of Owensboro, Beverly Sandefur of Chandler, IN and Judy Cain, of Henderson; one son, Allen Dowell of Stephensport;one sister, Esther Rosa Pfister, of Toledo, OH; 18 grand- children and several great-grandchildren. Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 22 at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. Burial was in the New Bethel Cemetery, with the Trent- Dowell Funeral Home in charge. Mattie L. Hanks 1915 - 1997 Mattie L. Hanks, age 81, of Medco Center in Hardinsburg and formerly of Stephensport, died July 15, 1997 at the Breckinridge memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hanks was born July 29, 1915 in Webster County, the daughter of the late Steve Mattingly and Sally Pipes Mattingly, and was a member of the Stephensport United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hanks on August 31, 1980. Mrs. Hanks is survived by a son, Sammy Hanks of Cloverport; two grand- children; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Hewitt Mattingly of South Carolina; and a sister, Ida Pate of Owensboro. Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 17 at the Stephensport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dean Weber officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Stephensport. Mattie Lou Allen 1907 - 1997 Mattie Lou Allen, age 89, of Custer, died Thursday, July 17, 1997 at the Medco Center in Brandenburg. She was born in Giles Co., TN on October 29, 1907, daughter of the late Nathan and Anna Smith Simpson, and was a home- maker and a member of the Custer United Methodist Church, and was pre- deceased by her husband, Oscar. Mrs. Allen is survived by a son, Bobby Allen of Custer; three daughters, Bertha Welch of San Antonio, TX, Ruby Harris and Polly Hancock, both of Custer; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren; one brother and six sisters, all in Tennessee. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at the Custer United Methodist Church, with burial in the Custer Cemetery with the Trent- Dowell Funeral Home in charge. Lawrence George Moock, Sr. 1928 - 1997 Lawrence George Moock, Sr., age 68, of Big Spring, died Monday, July 21, 1997, at the VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was born in Jefferson County on November 29, 1928, son of the late Lawrence and Helen Buhner Moock, and was a retired truck driver from Wilson/Puralator Courier Service. Mr. Moock is survived by three sons, Lawrence Jr., Karl and Steve Moock, all of Louisville; two daughters, Rita Gail Curtsinger and Donna Moock, both of Louisville; three grandchildren; and companion, Sylvia Gianola. There will be no services or visitation. Artelia Ramp Hall 1920 - 1997 Artelia Ramp Hall, age 77, of San Diego, CA, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at San Diego. She was born January 9, 1920, in Kansas City, MO, daughter of the late Leroy R. Ramp and Anne Jarboe Ramp, and was a retired secretary for an elevator construction company. Mrs. Hall is survived by several cousins. Services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 24 at graveside in the Cloverport Cemetery, with Wallace Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Rev. James William Hinton, CPPS 1917 - 1997 The Rev. James William Hinton, CPPS, age 79, died July 14, 1997 at Carthegena, OH. Fr. Hinton was born November 12, 1917, near Kirk, son of the late Coleman A. and Ethel Lucy Harrell Hinton, and was a retired priest and teacher. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bert Hinton and Robert Hinton; and one sister, Helen Hinton. Fr. Hinton is survived by two sisters; Imogene Mattingly of New York and Mary L. Hinton of Owensboro; two brothers, Gerald and Eugene Hinton of Hardinsburg; and several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins. Fr. Hinton was educated at St. Mary of the Woods parochial school, followed by Brunnerdale Preparatory Seminary, in Cathegena, OH. He celebrated his first Solemn High Mass on Sunday, December 12, 1943 at St. Mary of the Woods, McQuady, his home parish. Throughout his career as priest, he taught school and served as pastor in parishes in Kansas and Wisconsin. After retirement he resided in Owensboro until ill health prompted his return to the Motherhouse in Carthegena, OH, where he died. --submitted. Wayne Neil Kiper 1951 - 1997 Wayne Neil Kiper, age 45, of Harned, died suddenly Saturday, July 19, 1997, at his residence. Born December 17, 1951, the son of the late Cecil and Florence Anthony Kiper, he was employed by American Olean Tile Co., Lewisport, a farmer and a 1971 graduate of Breckinridge County High School. Mr. Kiper is survived by four sisters, Dorothy Rold, Irvington, Regina Kiper, Louisville, Susie Koetter, Floyd Knobs, IN and Nancy Jolly, Harned; three brothers, Claude, James and Donnie Kiper, all of Harned. Service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 23 at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Little, pastor of Kingswood Wesleyan Church, offi- ciating. Burial will be in the Kingswood Cemetery, with the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in charge. July 30, 1997
