He was born on August 9, 1948, in Breckinridge County, son of the late Walter and Aliene Walker McClellan, was employed with the White Stone Company, a member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. McClellan is survived by wife, Gloria McClellan; son, Jeff Jones of Harned; stepson, Bruce Smith, Lexington; three step-daughters, Karen Carney, Arizona, Melinda Brown, Hardinsburg, Kaylyn Wells, Lexington; one granddaughter, ten step-grandchildren, and sister, Wilma Bennett, Elizabeth, IN. Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 4 at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home with Bro.Gary Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery in Garfield, Visitation will be after 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 3 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Butch Fentress, Ronnie and Gary Conder, Gene Doda, Scott Brown and Norman Smallwood. Frances Joyce Dowell Elmore 1939-1997 Frances Joyce Dowell Elmore, age 58, died August 22, 1997, at the Alliant Medical Center. She was born May 7, 1939, daugahter of Coleman Dowell and the late Nellie Sosh Dowell, and was a homemaker and a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ. Mrs. Elmore is survived by her husband, Eugene M. Elmore, Louisville; father, Coleman Dowell and step-mother Rita Dowell; daughter Terry Parrish, and three sons, Michael, Jeff, and John Elmore, all of Louisville; three sisters, Dorothy Blackerby, Toni Norris and Bernice Henken, all of Louisville; a brother, Gene Dowell, of Louisville; half-brother, Jeff Dowell; half-sisters, Cindy Dowell and Judy Lyons; and six grandchildren. Services were held Monday, August 25, at 11 a.m. in the Owen Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home, Louisville. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery. Contributions to the Hospice of Louisville are suggested. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1997 Maurice K. (Kinch) Ball 1918-1997 Maurice K. (Kinch) Ball, age 79,of Hardinsburg, died Thursday, September 4, 1997 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Breckinridge County on August 16th, 1918, son of the late Hewitt and Maude Miller Ball, and was a farmer and self-employed truck driver. Mr. Ball is survived by his wife, Lottie Robbins Ball, Hardinsburg; six sons, William Franklin Ball, Kirkland, IN, Maurice Eugene Ball, Circleville, KS, James H. Ball, Evansville, IN, and Dwight, Rodney and Barry Ball, all of Hardinsburg; three daughters, Sue Tate and Laurel Critchelow, Hardinsburg and Nancy Glenn, Harned; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Verdemia "Boo" Board 1924- 1997 Verdemia "Boo" Board, age 73, of Irvington, died Friday, September 6, 1997 at Columbia Southwest Hospital, Louisville. She was born June 16, 1924, in Breckinridge County, the daughter of the late Raymond Priest and Katie Huffines and was formerly employed at the Quartermaster Laundry at Ft. Knox and also at Revelry Hills Sanitarium in Louisville. Mrs. Board is survived by five sisters, Evadean Whitworth and Agnes Lucas, of Irvington, Loretta Riggs of Brandenburg and Juanita Lucas and Wilma Allen of Louisville; and two brothers, Charles Sam Priest, and Howard "Cobb" Priest, both of Irvington. Services were held at 2 p.m. EDT, Monday, September 8 at the chapel at Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bruington, pastor of the Rosetta Methodist Church officiating. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1997 Stanley Hickerson 1907-1997 Stanley Hickerson, age 90, of Hardinsburg, died Thursday, September 4, 1997 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Breckinridge County, April 10, 1907, son of the late Logan and Sarah Robbins hickerson, and was a member of the Hardinsburg United Methodist Church, and was a retired security guard. Mr. Hickerson is survived by his wife, Louise Robbins Hickerson of Hardinsburg; two sons, Stanley Owen Hickerson, Milltown, IN and Jackie Reid Hickerson, Marengo, IN; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial services was held at 4 p.m., Saturday, September 6 at Hardinsburg United Methodist Church. Charlie Houtchen 1951-1997 Charlie Houtchen, age 45, of Cloverport, died Saturday, September 13, 1997 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Cloverport, December 30, 1951, son of the late Earl Allen Houtchen and Dorothy Salmon. Mr. Houtchen was a member of the Cloverport United Methodist Church, had worked as a guard for Guardsmark at the American Olean Tile Plant in Cloverport, and had also been a manager of the Rivercity Marathon Service Station. Mr. Houtchen is survived by his mother, Dorothy Salmon of Cloverport and step- father, Russell Salmon, Cloverport; two brothers, Bill and Kenny Houtchen of Cloverport; three sisters, Margaret Wiles of Cloverport, Bobbie Burden of Maceo, and Brenda Atwell of Cloverport; as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 17 at Wallace Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bro. Alton Lawhorn officiating. Burial will be in Cloverport Cemetery. James W. Tindall 1926-1997 James W. Tindall, age 71, of Hardinsburg Medco Center, and formerly of Cloverport, died Saturday, September 13, 1997 at Medco Center, Hardinsburg. He was born in Breckinridge County, November 21, 1926, son of the late Hobert Talmadge Tindall and Louise Robert Tindall, and was a member of the Cloverport United Methodist Church. Mr. Tindall is survived by three brothers, Elbert, Kenny and Donnie Tindall, all of Cloverport; five sisters, Violet Goodson of Cannelton, IN, Rose Hurder of Hawesville, Ethel Faulkenberg of Cannelton, IN, Edith Stowe of Cannelton, IN, as well as several nieces and nephews. Carter 1935-1997 Betty L. Carter, age 62, of Laconia, IN, died Thursday, September 11, 1997 at Harrison County Hospital, Corydon, IN. She was born March 29, 1935 in Harrison County, IN, to the late Charles and Bessie Noon Carver, and was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church at Laconia, IN. Mrs. Carter is survived by three sons, William Carter, Laconia, IN, Michael Carter, Elizabeth, IN, and Terry Carter, Corydon, IN; daughter, Delores Carter, Corydon, IN; three sisters, Katheryn Gleitz, Salem, IN, Doris Wooten, Central, IN, and Beatrice Melton, New Albany, IN; as well as nine grandchildren. June Lampton Allen 1939-1997 June Lampton Allen, age 58, of Louisville, formerly of Leitchfield, died Wednesday, September 10, 1996 at the Caritas Hospital in Louisville. Mrs. Allen was born in Breckinridge County, June 17, 1939, daughter of the late John and Annie Barnes Lampton. She was a homemaker, and a housekeeper at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, Earl Sidney Allen of Louisville; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Van Morton, Louisville, and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, Saturday, September 13 at 12 p.m., with Bro. Nathan Lowe officiating. Burial was in Louisville. Pedro Recarte Tafoya 1915-1997 Pedro Recarte Tafoya, age 82 of Rockdale, TX, died Thursday, September 11, 1997, at Rockdale Nursing Home. He was born February 9, 1915 in Chuchilla, NM, the son of the late Eudardo and Lenor Romera Tafoya, was retired from public service with the State of New Mexico, and was a WWII Army Veteran. Mr. Tafoya was preceded in death by grandson, Tony Black and great-grand- daughter, Maggie Schneider. Mr. Tafoya is survived by two daughters, Ameila Black, Mt. Plesant, TX and Mary Dell Gest, Rockdale, TX; two sons, Mike Tafoya, Hardinsburg, KY, and Richard Tafoya, Mt. Pleasant, TX; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at the Gest family cemetery near Rockdale, TX. She was born in Hardin County on June 18, 1980, the daughter of Ronald Dean Claycomb and Mary Helen Claycomb. She is survived by her parents Ronald Dean and Mary Helen O'Reilly; one brother, Dean Claycomb, Jr. and her grandparents, Jane Claycomb, of Webster and John Leo and Lorena O'Reilly of Hardinsburg and a boyfriend Brian Troxle. Seh was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church and was a student at Breck- inridge County High School. She worked at Dani's Restaurant in Hardinsburg as a waitress. Visitation was held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 12 at St. Romould Catholic Church. The burial was in English Baptist Church cemetery in Ammons. September 24, 1997 MARY JO HALL BLACK 1919-1997 Mary Jo Hall Black, age 78, of Hardinsburg, died Saturday, September 20, 1997 at Medco Center of Hardinsburg. She was born in Breckinridge County on April 6, 1919, daughter of the late Rafe and Josie Ryan Wheatley, was retired from the Parent Child Center in Hardinsburg, and was a member of the St. Romuald Catholic Church. Mrs. Black is survived by two sons, James Ralph Hall of Hardinsburg and Roger Wayne Hall of Pasedena, CA; daughter, Suzann Hall of Louisville; two grandchildren; two great-grand- children; two brothers, Leonard Wheatley of Hardinsburg and Terrance Wheatley of Aberdeen, MD; and sister Frances Haskell of Hardinsburg. Services were at 10 a.., Tuesday, September 23 at St. Mary of the Woods with Fr. Brad Whistle officiating. Burial was in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in McQuady, with the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in charge. HARLEY (H. L.) HORSLEY 1925-1997 Harley (H. L.) Horsley, age 72, died Tuesday, September 16, 1997 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN. He was born June 25, 1925 in Breckinridge County, the son of Owen and Bessie (Whitworth) Horsley. He was a retired trucker. Mr. Horsley is survived by his wife, Bertha Horsley of Hudson; two sons, Lonard and Harvey Horsley, both of Hudson; five step-sons, Charlie Bradshaw, of LaGrange, Mark Bradshaw, of Atwood, IL, Tom Conlin, of Arthur, IL, Larry Conlin, of Beathney, IL, and Tim Conlin, of Charlestown, IL; two daughters, Shirley Sutton, of Hudson, Jodie Horsley, of Big Clifty; three step-daughters, Shirley Haley, of Arthur, IL, Debbie Lawnhorn, of Gays, IL, Linda Conlin, of Wattsworth, OH; and a brother, Junior Fentress, of Garfield. ALFRED LEE REDNOUR 1912-1997 Alfred Lee Rednour, age 85, of Hardinsburg, died Sunday, September 21 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wayne County on September 20, 1912, son of the late Buck and Martha Gregory Rednour, was a retired evaporater operator with National Distillers Products Co., and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Rednour is survived by his wife, Marjorie Templeton Rednour, Hardinsburg; two grand- children; one great-grandcjhild; and three sisters, Florence Mills, Jessie Hays and Stella Duckworth, all of Morganfield. Services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 24 at New Bethel Baptist Church, with Rev. Harry Dooley officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery in Hardinsburg. She was born October 18, 1921, in Breckinridge County, daughter of the late Vol Duke and Sallie Embry Duke. Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer [Buck] Bishop, April 28, 1983. [son of Richard and Lida B. Weedman] Mrs. Bishop is survived by three sons, Bill Bishop of Cloverport, Kenny Bishop of Owensboro and Jerry Bishop of Hammond, IN; three daughters, Shirley Thompson of Owensboro, Alliene Tabor of Cloverport and Alma Swink of Paynesville; a sister, Margaret Rusher of Hardinsburg; 15 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
