Kinnerson, age 78, of Locust Hill, died Tuesday, November 25, 1997, at Norton's Hospital in Louisville. Mr. Kinnerson was born in Breckinridge County on October 9, 1910, a son of the late Luther and Luna Belle Carman Kinnerson. He was a farmer and a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Mae Tittle Kinnerson, and five sisters, Mary Nix, McQuady, Katie Carman, Harned, Reba Laslie and Anna Belle Hurt, Hardinsburg, and Ruby Carman, Garfield. A Masonic service was held Thursday evening. JOHN E. ADCOX 1930-1997 John E. Adcox, 67-year-old Garfield resident, died Thursday, November 27, 1997, at Caritas Medical Center in Louisville. Mr. Adcox was born in Breckinridge County, was retired from Corhart Refractories Corp., in Louisville, was a member of Faith Community Church in Garfield, Central Assembly in Florida, and was a Marine veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Adcox; two daughters, Sheila Foster, Louisville, and Alisa Carman, Garfield; a son, Tony Adcox, Garfield; a brother, Arthur Adcox, Charleston, IL; six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. BOARD 1923-1997 Hollis D. Board, age 73, of Louisville, formerly of Irvington, died Wednesday, November 26, 1997, at Northfield Health Care Center in Louisville. He was born December 11, 1923, in the Woodrow community of Breckinrdige County, a son of the late Earl Board and Luna Carman. Mr. Board was store manager of Huber Tire Company in Louisville, and a member of Moose Lodge #5 in Louisville. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. INez Gray Board; a son, Michael Board, Sheridan, WY; and three grandchildren, Whitney, Lauren and Connor Board, all of Wyoming. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. EST Sunday, November 30 from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, with the Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Irvington. MRS. NANNIE F. ALLEN 1912-1997 Mrs. Minnie Frances Allenm, age 85, of Guston, died Tuesday, November 25, 1997, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, following a lengthy illness. Born in Big Spring on Februay 15, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Thomas Nall and Mattie Ann Nemo. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker, a member of Patteson Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Senior Citizens in Brandenburg. Her husband, Benjamin Franklin Allen, Jr., preceded her in death in 1985. Surviving are three daughters, Almeda Newton and Elizabeth "Libby" Toney, Guston, and Barbara Brown, Irvington; a son Ronald F. Allen, Sr., Waxahachie, TX; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. HAYNES 1932-1997 Mrs. Margaret Dooley Haynes, age 65, of Irvington, died Saturday, November 29, 1997, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. Born January 11, 1932in Breckinridge County, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Annie Norton Dooley. She was retired from Galante Studio in Hardinsburg and was a member of the Irvington Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A son, Darren Francis Haynes, preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, Clinton Haynes; a sister, Juanita Tabor, Hardinsburg, and several nieces and nephews. TRENT 1927-1997 Gerald W. "Cook" Trent, 70-year-old Irvington resident, died Friday, November 28, 1997, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, after a short illness. Born January 17, 1927 in Irvington, Mr. Trent was the son of the late Leonard L. Trent, Sr. and Ella Wilson. He was retired from Olin Corporation in Brandenburg after 27 years, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Irvington United Methodist Church, and a longtime member of the Hillcrest Golf Club in Brandenburg. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Verna Mae Trent; a daughter, Brenda Hayes Carter, Irvington; two sons, Bruce Trent, Irvington, and Gary Trent, Lemont, IL; a sister, Joanna Drake, Dallas, TX; a brother, L. December 10, 1997 TOM LASLIE 1919-1997 Tom Laslie, age 78, of Hardinsburg, died Friday, December 5, 1997, at Norton's Hospital, Louisville. Born July 2, 1919 in Breckinridge County, Mr. Laslie was the son of the late Thomas and Cornelia Whitworth Laslie. He was a retired farmer and a World War II Army veteran. TALLEY, SR. 1939-1997 Eddie Jackson Talley, Sr., age 58, of Mineral, VA, died Monday, November 10, 1997, in Oklahoma City. He was born August 8, 1939, the son of the late Herman S. Talley and and Audrey C. Hamilton Talley. He was employed with Great Coastal Trucking Co. Surviving are his wife, Pearl F. RAMONIA HAYES 1913- 1997 Mrs. Ramonia Hayes, age 84, of Irvington, died Friday, December 12, 1997, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville following a short illness. Mrs. Hayes was born in Breckinridge County on May 12, 1913, a daughrer of htre late Uncas Allen and Adelia Oliver. She was a homemaker and a member of the Irvington Baptist Church. Her husband, Ben D. Hayes, Sr., preceded her in death in 1973, a daughter, Elsie Hayes Mills in 1996, and a grand-daughter, Betty Burrell in 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Margie Chappell, Irvington; five sons, Ben Haynes, Jr., St. Petersburg, FL, William "Billy" Hayes, Guston, Namon Haynes, Reynoldsburg, OH, Lewis Hayes, Anchorage, AK, and Robert "Bobby" Hayes, Irvington; a brother, V.G. RUBY FULLER 1926-1997 Mrs. Ruby Fuller, age 71, of Cloverport, died Friday, December 12, 1997, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility. Born May 23, 1926 in McLean County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Smith and Mertie Elizabeth Hagerman Smith. MRs. Fuller had worked as a cook at the Cloverport schools, and was a member of hte Pisgah Baptist Church. Survivors are her husbasnd, Harold Fuller; two daughters, Bonnie DeJarnette, Oliver Springs, TN, and Joyce Donnelly, Lewisport; a son, jimmy Fuller, Bardstown; a sister, Barbara Ann Thomasson, Livermore; four brothers, Bobby, Ray, Jim and Tommy Smith, all of Utica; seven grandchilren and one great- grandchild. KRUGER James W. (Bill) Kruger, age 64, of Hawesville, died Tuesday, December 9, 1997, at his home. Mr. Kruger was born in Breckinridge County, the son of the late Albert Kruger and Beulah Peach Kruger. He was a carpenter and farmer, an Army veteran and a member of the Baptist church. MEDA HEAVRIN 1910-1997 Mrs. Meda Heavrin, age 87, formerly of Irvington, died Thursday, December 11, 1997, at Medco Center of Brandenburg. Born in Breckinridge County on October 22, 1910, Mrs. Heavrin was a daughter of the late John R. Chism and Mary Chapin. She was a homemaker, a member of the Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Irvington, and a former member of the Breckinridge County Senior Citizens. Her husband, Douglas Heavrin, preceded her in death in 1982, and a son, Donald Edwin Heavrin, in 1986. Survivors are four grandchildren, Gene Heavrin, Stanley Heavrin, and Marie Edwards, Louisville, and Michele Clark, floyd Knobs, IN, and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at 11 .m. Prayer services were held Friday night. JAMES H. WARDRIP 1937-1997 JAmes Herbert Wardip, age 60 of Brandenburg, died Sunday, December 14, 1997, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville. Mr. Wardrip was born in Jefferson County on September 3, 1937, a son of the late William B. Wardrip and Lillian Carwile Wardrip. He was the owner of W&W Sanitation and worked at Kosmos Cement Plant in Kosmosdale for 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Jean Wardrip; two daughters, Mrs. Gwen Mills, Payneville, and Mrs. Darla Padgett, of Brandenburg; two sons, Dan Wardrip, Newburgh, IN, and Toby Wardrip, Fairdale; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Durbin, Guston, Mrs. Marilyn Ruph, Hillview, and MRs. Wednesday, December 24, 1997 JOSEPH MASTERSON 1943-1997 Joseph "Buddy" Masterson, age 54, died Wednesday, December 17, 1997, at his home in Harned following a lengthy bout with cancer. born in Jefferson County January 24, 1943, Mr. Masterson was a son of the late Paul Monroe Masterson and Norma Kathleen Greenwell Masterson. He was a truck driver for Henderson Electric Co., Inc. in Lexington, and was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Priest Masterson; a son and daughter, Mark Masterson and Sandy Masterson, both of Harned; four brothers, MIckey Masterson, Georgetown, Barry Masterson, Hardinsburg, Todd Masterson, Payneville, and David Masterson, Brandenburg. MARY PEARL DONER 1899-1997 Mrs. Mary Pearl Doner, age 98, of Medco Center of Brandenburg, died there on Thursday, December 18, 1997, following a lengthy illness. She was born November 18, 1899, in Edron, a daughter of the late Barned Philpot and Sarah Basham. She was a homemaker and was well known for her lifetime of quilting. She was the oldest member of Hill Grove Baptist Church in Guston. Her husband, Tom Donner, preceded her in death in 1980. Surviving are a son, David Doner, Garret; a grandson, Elree Doner, Louisville; three great-grandchildren, Craig and Dwayne Doner, Louisville, and Annette Galloway, Garrett, and five great-great-grandchildren. BOBBY LUCAS 1938-1997 Bobby Lucas, age 59, of Leitchfield, died Wednesday, December 17, 1997, at his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Grayson County May 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Roy Leslie and Elise Givens Lucas. Bobby was a local barber and owner of Bob's Barber Shop for 30 years. He was a member and deacon of the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a member and past master of Leitchfield Lodge #236 F&AM, a member and past master of Pilgrim Lodge #545 F&AM, past District Deputy Grand Master, District 11 Grand Lodge of KY F&AM, served on the Committee of Religious Interest for the Grand Lodge of Kentucky and presently serving on the Lodges under Dispensation for the Grand Lodge of Kentucky. He also was a member of the Past Master Association District 11, Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #496 in Shrewsbury, was elected Mason of the Year in 1987 for District 11, and an Army veteran of 1961 to 1963. A brother, Roy, Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Marcella Mercer Lucas; three daughters, Michele Lucas, Clarkson, Denise and Gary McGrew, and Leslie and Joe Houchin, Leitchfield; one brother, Arvil and Jane Smith Lucas, Leitchfield; grandchildren, Kalynn, Matthew, and Brandon McGrew, Kelsey and Katie Houchins, Leitchfield, and Evand Donald, Clarkson. Smith, age 70, of Louisville, died Thursday, December 18, 1997, at Caritas Medical Center in Louisville. Mr. Smith was born in Breckinridge County on August 7, 1927, a son of the late Mayer and Iva Tucker Smith. He was retired from Jefferson County Public School System, was a member of the Baptist faith, and attended Hazelwood Baptist Church in Louisville. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cleo Wagers Smith; a daughter, Kathy Thompson, Louisville; a son Phillip Richard Smith, Louisville; five sisters, Fannie Mae Irwin, Lorene Wilson, and Allene Wheatley, all Hardisnburg, Alberta McCoy, Westview, and Lucinda turcott, Hudson; two brothers, J. DECEMBER 31, 1997 ROBERT LEVI JACKSON 1977-1997 Robert Levi Jackson, age 20, of Cloverport, died Friday, Decmeber 26, 1997, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident that occured in Hawesville. He was born September 28, 1977 in Owensboro, the son of Robert (Bobby) Jackson, and Carol Jackson, Cloverport, who survive. He was a member of the Cloverport Baptist Church, a student at Western Kentucky University, a member of the WKU Baptist Student Union, worked at Lone Star Steak House in Bowling Green and for NSA while on Christmas break, and was a graduate of Cloverport High School. Surviving other than his parents are a sister, Mr. Jon (Gina) Stanifer of Cloverport; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Regina McCoy, Cloverport; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Louise Jackson, Cloverport; and a nephew, Devon Stanifer, Cloverport. DORA MAE BRUINGTON 1912-1997 Mrs. Dora Mae Wethington Bruington, age 85, of Harned, died Friday, December 26, 1997 at Medco Cener of Hardinsbug. Born in Breckinridge County December 12, 1912, Mrs. Bruington was a daughter of the late Paul and Minnie Matthews Wethington. She was a housewife and a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church. Her husband Raymond preceded her in death. Surviving is a brother, Maurice Wethington, Hawesville; two sisters, Pauline Henninger, IL, and Regina Oelze, Hardinsburg, and nieces and nephews. Greenlee, age 62, of Harned, died Saturday, December 27, 1997, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. Born in Breckinridge County July 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Dean Pyles. Mrs. Greenlee was retired from Vermont American in Leitchfield, was a member of the Talbert Chapel United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband, Robert Greenlee; two daughters, Gloria Greenlee Wales, Louisville, and Gail Greenlee, Radcliff; three sisters, Rosie Gude and JoDale Smith, Louisville, and Helen Poole, Harned; a brother, Shelby Pyles, Harned; and two grand- children. Eskdridge, 92-year-old Hardinsburg resident, died Friday, December 26, 1997, at Medco Center in Hardinsburg. Mr. Eskridge was born January 13, 1905 in Breckinridge County, a son of the late Edward and Eliza Tucker Eskridge. He was a farmer and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. His wife, Mrs. Mary Alene Eskridge, preceded him in death in 1988. Survivors incluide four daughters, Ople Marshall and Wanda Simmons, Hardinsburg, Jean Harmon and Naomi Simmons, Louisville; two sons, Travis Eskridge, Hardinsburg, and Leon Eskridge, High Springs, FL; 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. MATTHEWS 1921-1997 Maurice Gerald "Matty" Matthews, age 76, of Janesville, WI, died Sunday, December 28, 1997 at his home. Born June 16, 1921 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Alva and Grace Compton Matthews, and later moved and was raised in Hardinsburg. He moved to Janesville as a young man and was employed by General Motors for 32 1/2 years retiring in 1986, was a counselor with the alcohol and drug abuse program at GM, was an Army veteran of World War II having fought in the European Theatre, and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Surviving are his wife, Lavina Paul Symonds Matthews; three daughters, Grace Becker of Janesville, WI, Paulette Tinder, Beloit, WI, Viola Helgesen, Green Bay, WI; two sons, David Matthews, Fort Wayne, IN, Charles Symonds III, Whitter, CA; a sister, Mary Angela OSU, Calvert, KY; three brothers, Francis Matthews, Claud Matthews, Hardinsburg, and Thomas Matthews, Denning, NM; 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. OWEN MORGAN Owen "Shorty" Morgan, age 79, of Ferdinand, IN, died Friday, December 26, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg, IN. He was born in Hancock Cuonty anda retired in 1983 as a mechanic for 50 years, with employment at Dauby's Garage, Can Clay Corp., and Ohio Valley Co. - Troy Terminal. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A son, David Morgan, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Mary Edith Kincaid Morgan of Tell City; five sons, Bill Morgan, Mission Viejo, CA, Kenny Morgan, Troy, IN, Dale Morgan, Tell City, IN, Jeff Morgan, Hardinsburg, Bruce Morgan, Hawesville; two daughters, Janet Huck and Carolyn Poehlein, both of Tell City; a sister, Elsie Thomas, Owensboro; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
