Born November 30, 1901 in Greensburg, KY. She is the daughter of the late David Thomas Wilson and Martha Bridgewater. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of the Irvington United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Irvington Order Eastern Star. Preceded in death by her husband, Russell Carden in 1995. Survivors include three daughters, Eleanor Rae Mitcham and Martha Pile, Brandenburg, Bobbie Tarter, Louisville; one son, Tom White Carden, Irvington; three sisters, Media Hickman, Corydon, IN, Tommie LaHue, FL, Frances Richardson, Louisville; one brother, Fulton Wilson, irvington. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, April 12 at the Irvington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Robinson, pastor of Irvington United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Irvington, with the Alexander Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Bobby Joe Surrell 1963 - 1998 Bobby Joe Surrell, age 34, of Harned, passed away Thursday, April 9, at Hardinsburg. Born December 16, 1963 in Breckinridge County, he was the son of Gladys Brown Surrell and Charles Surrell, Sr. He was employed as a team leader in production at Toyota of Georgetown, KY, a member of the First Baptist Church and a graduate of Breckinridge County High School. Survivors include his wife, Roxanna Huges Surrell, Harned; one son, Bradley Surrell, Harned; one daughter, Brooke Surrell, Harned; one brother, Charles Surrell, Jr., Irvington; five sisters, Gladys Johnson, Joyce Duncan, Brenda Wales and Margaret Surrell, Hardinsburg, Norma Robinson, Louisville. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. April 11 at the First Baptist Church in Hardinsburg, with the Rev. George Mitchell officiating. Burial in Hardinsburg Cemetery. Trent-Dowell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Rickey Dale Keith 1960 - 1998 Mr. Rickey Dale Keith, age 38, of Eminence, KY, died Friday, April 10, at Alliant Medical Pavillion-Hospice Unit, Louisville, KY, after a short illness. He is the son of Mrs. James (Virginia) Shaw, Hardinsburg, and Granville Presley Keith, Portland, OR. He was a native of Breckinridge kCounty, a road construction employee, a member of the local Union #576, Louisville, KY and a member of the Smithfield Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Diane Owens Keith, Eminence, KY, one son, Brian Scott Keith, Corydon, IN, one step-daughter, Daphne Mertz, Eminence, KY, two sisters, Mrs. Carroll (Brenda) Whitfill, Hardinsburg, Mrs. Keith (Debbie) Mattingly, Westview, one brother, Robert Keith, McDaniels, two half-brothers, Brian and Bradley Keith, Louisville, one step-sister, Janice Shaw, Brandenburg. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., April 12 at the Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle, KY. Officiated by Rev. Greg Porterfield, pastor of the Smithsfield Christian Church, burial was in the New Castle Cemetery. Pallbearers include Carroll Whitfill, Keith Mattingly, Brian Keith, Donald Dowden, Wendell Parks and Ricky Shannon. April 22, 1998 Leonard Dwayne "Dewey" Brown 1968 - 1998 Leonard Dwayne, "Dewey" Brown, age 29, of Irvington, died Tuesday, April 14 at Columbia Surburban Hospital in Louisville. Born on November 19, 1968 in Louisville, he was the son of the late Henry Brown. He was a bricklayer by trade and attended Breckinridge County High School. Survived by his wife Amy Brown, Louisville, and mother, Sheila Cook, Indianapolis, IN; two sons, Leonard and Malcolm Brown, Louisville, eight sisters, Chantelle Johnson, Irvington, Oresha Johnson, Radcliff, Tammy Payne, Donna Cook, Tina Payne, Louisville, Rhonda Cook, Rita Taylor, Rosa Walton, Indianapolis, IN, Damon, Derrick and Leonard Brown, Louisville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. EDT, Friday, April 17, at the Church of the Living God in Irvington with the Rev. Maxine Rowe officiating. Burial was in the Brooks Cemetery with the Alexander Funeral Home in charge of services. Nanette Mann Bridges 1947 - 1998 Nanette Mann Bridges, age 50, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, April 18 at Nortons Hospital in Louisville, following a lengthy illness. Born November 5, 1947, in Adair County, KY, she was the daughter of W. O. "Candy" Mann and Pauline Mann of Irvington. She was a retired employee with the Civil Service of Fort Knox, member of Dunbar Hill Baptist Church, Knipley, graduate of Adair County High School and Spencerian Business College and an avid golfer. Survivors are her husband, Bobby Bridges, Elizabethtown, one son, Todd Curts, Hardinsburg, one sister, Sharon Smith, Irvington, two brothers, Wendell Mann, Irvington, David Mann, Elizabethtown. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Michael and Alissa Curts, Brandenburg. The graveside service was held at 12:30 p.m. EDT, Monday, April 20, at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Alexander Funeral Home in charge of services. April 29, 1998 Georgia Early 1902-1998 Georgia Early, age 95, Medco Center of Hardinsburg and formerly of Stephensport, died April 21. Born December 7, 1902 in Breckinridge County. Mrs. Early is the daughter of the late Mont Smith and Sarah Willoughby Smith. She was a member of the Stephensport Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, George D. Early, and a daughter, Linda Frances Lucas, and two sons, James D. and Chester Early, and a grandson, Preston Claycomb and a great- granddaughter, Angela Claycomb. Surviving are four sons, Charles L., Marvin, and Harold Gene Early, Stephensport, William Early, Dallas, TX; five daughters, Christine Koester, Aurora, IL, Mary Ruth Rodgers, Clinton, IL, Elsie Lee Butler, Salem, IN, Jane Claycomb, Stephensport, Barbara D. Leland Butler 1922-1998 Leland Butler, age 75, of Medco Center of Brandenburg, formerly of Cloverport, died Tuesday, April 21, at Hardin Memorial Hospital of Elizabethtown. Born June 11, 1922 in Harned, daughter of the late William Butler. Survivors include her mother, Sallie Mae Butler, Medco Center of Brandenburg; one son, Samuel Ray Butler, VA; two sisters, Elnora Dietz, Louisville, Sue Pile, Harned; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 24, at the chapel of Alexandria Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Lawhorn. Burial was in the Custer Cemetery with the Alexander Funeral Home. Fulton Hogard Wilson 1915-1998 Fulton Hogard Wilson, age 82, of Irvington, died suddenly Thursday, April 23 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. Born June 11, 1915 in Greensburg, Ky, son of the late David Thomas Wilson and Martha Bridgewater. He was retired from Olin Corp, Brandenburg, owned and operated Irvington Truck Line for several years, life long farmer, member of the Irvington Methodist Church, mayor of Irvington from 1966-1973, fifty-two year member at Irvington Masonic Lodge #868, chairman of the Board of Trustees for the City of Irvington from 1963-1966. Survivors are his wife Nancy Thomas Bandy Wilson, Irvington; one daughter, Scarlett Bandy Mattson, Irvington; one son, Ginger Thomas Wilson, Irvington; three sisters, Media Hickman, IN, Tommie LaHue, FL, Carrie Frances Richardson, Louisville, five grandchildren and 9 great- granchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aril 26, at 3 p.m. at the Irvington United Methodist Church with Sister Maxine Rowe and Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Irvington with the Alexander Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Raleigh Shelton, III 1949-1998 Raleigh Shelton, III, age 48, of Harned, died Tuesday, April 28 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born May 10, 1949 in Bowling Green, Ky. Son of Raliegh Shelton, Jr. and Annie Geralds Shelton. He was a schoolteacher at Breckinridge County High School and a member of the Stephensport Baptist Church and was an ordained Baptist minister. Preceded in death by one son, Edmund James Shelton. Survivors are his wife, Judy Howard Shelton, Harned; one son, Raleigh Shelton, IV, Harned. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30 at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Visitation from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Trent-Dowell. Burial will be by cremation.
