Born November 3, 1925 in Olaton, Mrs. Payne was a daughter of the late Floyd Keith and Christine Martin. She was a homemaker, attended the Baptist church and was employed at R. L. White Printing Co. in Louisville. She was preceded in death by her husband William Payne in 1987. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Dennis "Ruth" rALEY, of Guston; one siser, Anna Graves of Louisville; three brothers, James Logan and Winston Keith of Louisville and Kenneth Keith of California; and five grandchildren. The funeral services were held on Friday, September 4 at the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington, with the Rev. Tim Tower officiating. Burial was in the St. Theresa Cemetery in Rhodelia. Raymond Lewis Duncan 1933-1998 Raymond Lewis Duncan, age 65 of Irvington, died Saturday, September 5, 1998, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. Born April 26, 1933 in Irvington, Mr. Duncan was a son of the late Martin Andrew Duncan and Annie Slaughter. He was formerly employed at Fort Knox and was a U. S. Army veteran. Survivors are three daughters, michelle Fulleord and Kim Duncan of Louisville, Katresa Jackson, of Irvington; five sons, Ronald Alexander, of Georgia, Raymond Duncan, of Texas, Maurice, Kenneth and James Fulleord, all of Louisville; three stepchildren, Shelia Fulleord, Isiah Fulleord and Monica Shone, all of Louisville; three sisters, Sallie Duncan, Martha Starks and Mattie Jones, all of Louisville; three brothers, Henry Duncan, of Brandenburg, James Duncan, of Radcliff, and Eugene Duncan of Louisville; several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 8 at the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington, with the Rev. Arthur King, pastor of the Clair Memorial Methodist Church in Irvington, officiating. Burial was in the Brooks Cemetery in Irvington. Mrs. Alma B. Higginson 1922-1998 Mrs. Alma Blancett Higginson, 76, of Owensboro, formerly of Calhoun, died Monday, September 7, 1998, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. She was born in Calhoun March 29, 1922. Mrs. Higgenson was a homemaker, a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church in Owensboro, a former member of the Calhoun United Methodist Church, a member of the Morganfield Order of the Eastern Star, a member and past president of the West Central Kentucky Dental Auxiliary, and a member of the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels. She was the first woman to serve as a trustee of the Henderson District United Methodis Church. Her first husband, Gene Wheeler, died June 4, 1944, and her second husband, Dr. George Higginson, died December 24, 1964. Survivors include two sons, Dr. James Eugene Wheeler of Hardinsburg, and Dr. Joseph Hall Higginson of Owensboro; a grandson, Dr. James Eugene Wheeler, II of Madisonville; two granddaughters, Magen Brentz Higginson and Mary Katherine Higginson, both of Owensboro; and a brother, J. C. Blancett, Hardinsburg. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 at the Calhoun United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Bishop officiating, assisted by the Rev. Beryl Fentress. Burial was in Calhoun Cemetery under the direction of Muster Funeral Home, Calhoun. Mrs. Anna L. Stilwell 1932-1998 Mrs. Anna Laverne Stilwell, age 66, of Hardinsburg, died Thursday, September 3, 1998, at T. J. Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Stilwell was born July 28, 1932 [note: printed 1998] in Breckinridge County, a daughter of the late Sam and Ollie Edwards Clark. She was a member of the Trinity Full Gospel Church. Surviving are her husband, James L. Stilwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Harold Birge, Glasgow; sisters, Virginia Cahill and Margie Hidgon, Louisville; a brother, the Rev. Hubert Clark, Leitchfield; and two grandsons. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 5 at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, with the Rev. Gerald Elliott officiating. Burial was in Hudson Cemetery. Mrs. Louise Hayden 1912-1998 Mrs. Louise Hayden, age 86 of Cloverport died Thursday, September 3, 1998, at the Medco Center of Hardinsburg. Born August 11, 1912 in Cloverport, Mrs. Hayden was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen Black and Mary Emma Cummings Black. She was preceeded in death by her husband, William Hayden in 1983. She was a member of the Cloverport United Methodist Church. Survivors are one son, John Larry Hayden of Cloverport; one daughter, Dianna Lou French of Louisville; two sisters, Eva Margaret Abell of Cloverport, and Lillian Frances White of Wendsor, CA; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Services took place Saturday, September 5, at Wallace Funeral Home in Cloverport, with Bro. Truman Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Cloverport Cemetery. Pallbearers were Timmy Blair, Zack Blair, Jefferson Brown, Tom Catron, Urban Linne and Gordon Stinnett. Dr. LeRoy K. Taul 1924-1998 Dr. LeRoy Keenan Taul, age 74, died Monday, September 7, 1998, at his home in Asheboro, NC. Dr. Taul, formerly of Breckinridge County, was a graduate of the University of Georgia Veterinary School where he taught for several years. He also taught at the Auburn University Veterinary School before going to Asheboro in 1969 where he was a partner in the Randolph Animal Hospital until his retirement in 1988. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sara F. Taul; a son Dennis R. Taul, Apex, NC; a daughter, Lizabeth Miller, Asheboro, NC; a brother, Dallas M. Taul, Hardinsburg; a sister, Dorothy T. Shrewsbury, Hardinsburg; a grandson, Keenan C. Taul, Apex, NC; and three granddaughters, Kelsey C. Taul, Apex, NC, Sarabeth Miller and Mary Miller, Asheboro, NC. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 7 at the First Baptist Church with the Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park with Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC, in charge of arrangements. September 16, 1998? MRS. MARGARET SINGLETON 1915-1998 Mrs. Margaret Basham Singleton, age 83, of Wilmore, KY, formerly of Breckinridge and Daviess Counties, died Wednesday, September 9, 1998, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born August 27, 1915 in Breckinridge County, Mrs. Singleton was a daughter of the late Rufus and Mary Henninger Basham. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kinsgwood Wesleyan Church. Her husband, Floyd Singleton, preceded her in death in 1972. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ruth Mavis, Wilmre; one grandchild; and two great- grandchildren. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12 at the Kingwood Wesleyan Church with burial in the Kingswood Cemetery. Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg, was in charge of arrangements. ROBERT E. ATKINSON 1926-1998 The funeral for Dr. Robert Edward "Ed" Atkinson of Kingstree, SC, was held recently at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Williamsburg, SC, under the direction of Williamsburg Funeral Home. Burial was in Williamsburg Cemetery. Dr. Atkinson, 72, a retired veterinarian, died in a local hospital. He was born in Morgan County, GA, a son of Alexander W. Atkinson and Ruby Gillen Atkinson. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, an Army veteran of World War II, was president of the SC Veterinary Association, was a director of the Exchange Bank of South Carolina and the Williamsburg Packing Co. He was an active member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mickey McIntosh Atkinson; two sons, Robert E. Atkingson, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL, and Dr. Ernest M. Atkinson, Kingstree, SC; a daughter, Louise E. Atkinson, Ankeny, IA; and seven grandchildren. Dr. Atkinson was a brother of the late Frank Atkinson of this community.
