Mr. Valdes was born in Florida on March 26,1958, a son of Armando, John and Sharon Lee Meek Valdes, who survive. He was the owner and operator of On Target Gun Shop, was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church, a member of the Breckinridge County Moose Lodge, the Hardinsburg VFW, and was a Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Valdes. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Miller Valdes; three sons, Johnny Lee Valdes Jr., Armando Valdes and David Valdes, all of Garfield; three sisters, Connie Park, Gainesville, FL, Jill Hecker and Cindy Speed, Ocala, FL; and two brothers, Steve Valdes and Rick Valdes, Lodiburg. There will be no visitation or services. Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg, handled the arrangements. James F. Mattingly 1957-1999 James F. Mattingly, 42 years old, of Cloverport, died Thursday, July 29,1999, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. Born in Hardinsburg on February 15,1957, Mr. Mattingly was a son of the late James E. Mattingly and Myra Pauline Emery Mattingly. He was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville. Surviving are his wife, Donna Mattingly; a son, Anthony Alien Mattingly, Cloverport; a daughter, Jimmie Marie Mattingly, Irvington; two grandchildren, Serenity Ditto and Christina Ditto, Irvington, and a half-brother, Paul Mattingly, Louisville. Graveside services were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Pisgah Cemetery with Chaplain Keith Taylor officiating. Wallace Funeral Home, Cloverport, was in charge of arrangements. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the James F. Mattingly Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Daisy Mae Glasscock 1902-1999 Mrs. Daisy Mae Glasscock, age 97, of Irvington, formerly of Harned, died Saturday, July 31,1999, at her home. Born February 17, 1902, in Breckinridge County, Mrs. Glasscock was a daughter of the late Riley and Mary Armes Tucker. She was a retired restaurant owner and operator and was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. Her husband, Wade Glasscock, preceded her in death on August 11, 1997, also a daughter, Imogene Vittitoe. Surviving are a son, Marvin Glasscock, Louisville; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and five great-great- grandchildren. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3 from Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg, with burial in the Cave Spring Cemetery at Westview. Allen N. Harper 1927-1999 Allen N. Harper, age 72, of Rt. 3, Hardinsburg, died Friday, July 30, 1999, at his home. Born in Breckinridge County on March 8,1927, he was the son of the late Marion Harper and Mary Dunn Harper. He was retired from the American Olean Tile Plant at Lewisport, after 37 years, and was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Harper; a son, Terry Harper, Tell City, IN; five daughters, Suzie Sims of Tell City, IN, Brenda Hildenbrandt and Tonja Flood of Hardinsburg, Deborah Weichert of Shelbyville, and Sherry Haynes of Smithfield; a brother, Vernie Harper of Cloverport; 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, from Wallace Funeral Home in Cloverport, with the Rev. Philip Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in Cloverport Cemetery. Pallbearers were Randy Powers, Junior Smith, Marion Lee Harper, Ricky Harper, Paul Fuqua and Gary Harper. Elroy B. Stewart Elroy B. "Bud" Stewart, age 73, died Thursday, July 29,1999, at his home in Stephensport. Mr. Stewart was born in Breckinridge County, was retired from Asplundh Tree Service, was a member of the Stephensport United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nancy Stewart; three sons, Robbie Dewayne Stewart,: Hardinsburg, Jimmy Ray Stewart, Stephensport, and Bruce Edward Stewart, Hawes-ville; a daughter, Cynthia Rochelle Johnson, Irvington; two brothers, Elvie Ray Stewart, Rock Haven, and Ellis Neil Stewart, Louisville; two sisters, Marie King, Middletown, and Verna B. Benham, Branden-burg, and four grandchildren. The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 2 from the Stephensport United Methodist Church with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Stephensport. Mattingly, age 91, of Hardinsburg, died Sunday, August 1, 1999, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. Born in Breckinridge County on December21,1907, Mr. Mattingly was a son of the late John and Mary Ellen Mays Mattingly. He was a farmer and a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church. His wife, Mrs. Helen Marie Mattingly, preceded him in death in 1993. Surviving is a daughter, Margaret Mary Fair, Floyds Knobs, IN; four grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, from St. Romuald Catholic Church, Hardinsburg, with Father Terry Devine officiating. Burial was in St. Romuald Cemetery under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg. Mrs. Shirley M. Lawrence 1937-1999 Mrs. Shirley Monroe Lawrence, age 61, of Irvington, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Hardin Memor Hospital in Elizabethtown, follow­ing a lengthy illness. Born Decem­ber 1, 1937, in Irvington, Mrs. Lawrence was a daughter of the late Monroe Crouch Sr. and Melvina Green. She was formerly employed with the Irvington Medical Center as an x-ray technician for 30 years, was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Irving­ton, and a member of the Lincoln Institute Alumni. Her husband, W.S. Lawrence, preceded her in death in 1983. Also a son, Aaron Lawrence. Survivors include a daughter, P.O. Stephanie Lawrence, aboard the USS Wasp stationed in Norfolk, VA; a son M/Sgt. Stanley Lawrence, Camp Lejeune, NC; a very special friend, Roscoe J. Carter, Irvington; three sisters, Margaret Greenlee, Irving­ton, Lucy Johnson and Irma Springer, Louisville; a brother, Wil­liam Crouch, Ekron, and three grand­children. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 4 from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington, with Father William Han­cock officiating. Burial was in Brooks Cemetery in Irvington, with Alexander Funeral Home, Irving­ton, in charge of arrangements. Prayers were recited at 7 p.m. Tues­day evening. Russell Earl Riley Russell Earl Riley, age 56, of Hardinsburg, died Thursday, July 29,1999, at his home. Mr. Riley was born in Breckinridge County, a son of the late James C. and Mary Ellen Nelson Riley. He was retired from Crounse Corporation as a cheif en­gineer and was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jean Hinton Riley; three daughters, Charlene Cherry, Lawrenceburg, Marilyn Henning, Hardinsburg, and Tammy Butler, Irvington; two step­daughters, JoAnn Risinger, Leba­non, and Gayle Dowell, Hardins­burg; two stepsons, Andy Himmelhaver, Hardinsburg, and Tommy Himmelhaver, Harned; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Charles Riley, Radcliff, and James Riley, Louisville, and a sister, Darnell Wheatley, Hardinsburg. The funeral was held at 12 p.m. Sunday, August 1 from St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in McQuady, with Father Bruce Fogle officiating. Burial was in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg. Oscar B. Combes 1930-1999 Oscar B. Combes, 69 year old resident of Brandenburg, died Sat­urday, July 31,1999, at St. Matthews Manor in Louisville, following a lengthy illness. Born July 17,1930, in Christian County, he was a son of Mrs. Daisy Combes, of Hopkinsville, and the late Tandy Combes. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service, was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars where he received the Bronze Star for valor, the Gallantry Cross with star, and the Purple Heart. He was also retired from Crucible Magnetics in Elizabethtown after 17 years, was a member of the Ro-setta United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, and was a member of Harrison Masonic Lodge #122 in Brandenburg. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Kath­leen Ross Combes; three stepdaugh-ters, Lois Rodgers, Brandenburg, Pat Romans and Henrietta Bruhn, Louisville; five children by a previ-ous marriage; 10 stepgrandchildren, and 13 step-great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tues-day, August 3 from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, Irving-on, with the Rev. Russell East officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery near Bewleyville. Masonic services were conducted by Harrison Lodge #122 Monday evening at the funeral home.
