Henry Franklin "Alf" Adkins, Sr, age 81 of Sample, KY died Thursday, August 6, 
2009 at his residence. He was born in Breckinridge County on 6-13-1928, the 
son of the late Everett and Ella Dowell Adkins. He was a retired dozer 
operator and mechanic. His sons referred to him as a "tinkerer" because he 
enjoyed seeing how things worked. His motto was" if it ain't broke, break it 
and I'll fix it".
 
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn on 6-11-2009
son - Phillip Ray Adkins
grandson - Chad Smith
brother - Omer Adkins
 
Alf is survived by 3 sons - Frank (Regina) Adkins of Garfield, KY
Gerald (Nona) Adkins of Cloverport, KY
Jeff (Krissti) Adkins of Sample, KY
4 grandchildren
4 step grandchildren
4 step great grandchildren
 
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 12PM CDT at Trent-
Dowell Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will be in 
the Sample Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:30 - 8:00PM CDT 
and after 8:30AM CDT Tuesday.
