OBITUARY
     Mrs. Maxie Ellen KEENAN BATES, age 81, of Hardinsburg, Ky., died Monday, 
March 26, 2001, at Medco Center of Hardinsburg, following a lengthy illness.  
Born July 31, 1919 in the Tar Fork Community of Breckinridge County, Mrs. BATES 
was the daughter of the late John Russell KEENAN and Mary Augusta JACKSON.  She 
was a housewife, and a member of Corinth Baptist Church.  Her husband, C.B. BATES 
preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, one son-in-law, three sons, two daughters-in-
law, two sisters, two brothers, 5 granddaughters, one grandson, and two great 
grandsons.
     Graveside services were held on Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Brickey 
Cemetery near Hardinsburg.  Trent-Dowell Funeral Home of Hardinsburg, in charge 
of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Tar Fork Christian 
Church.

Additional Comments:
Brickey Cemetery, tombstone pictures I took in August 1989 on a visit to 
Hardinsburg to do family research on my WHITWORTH surname.  I have done my best 
to reseach and record all WHITWORTH'S in and around Breckinridge County since I 
started researching in April 1980.

       Thelma   03 Oct 1904 -- 22 Jul 1954  wife of Levi M.    "MOTHER"
There is only year dates on their double tombstone.
Son of Benjamin H. BATES and Elmina Franklin TAUL
Daughter of Nathaniel WHITWORTH and Ruth MACY

Maxie Ellen KEENAN, the daughter of John Russell KEENAN and Mary Augusta JACKSON.
