John E. Beachy, age 85, of Kalona, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 
his son's home in Kalona.  He was born on October 20, 1916 to Ananias and Ella 
Mae Shetler Beachy.  He was a farmer and a member of the Breckinridge Mennonite 
Church.

Survivors include his wife Edna Gingerich Beachy and six children, Melvin 
Beachy and wife Rhoda of Kalona; Malon Beach and wife Linda of Kalona; Carol 
Wenger and husband Kevin of Athens, Wis.; Jerry Beach and wife Dorothy of 
Kalona; Esther Beachy and David Beachy, both of Stephensport, Ky.; five 
brothers, Ray Beachy of Wellman; Glen Beachy, Early Beachy and Joseph Beachy, 
all of Kalona; Jesse Beachy of Gladys, Va.; three sisters, Fannie Miller of 
Sarasota, Fla.; Mary Miller of Partridge, Kan.; and Esther Zook of Kalona.  32 
grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at the Sharon Bethel 
Church in Kalona with ministers Peter Klippenstein and Nelson Beach 
officiating.  Burial was in the Haven Cemetery.
