Trent-Dowell Funeral Home Obituary Listings
L. John Bertschman, age 64 of Hardinsburg, KY died 
Saturday, 5-10-2008 at Medco Center. He was born in 
Milan, Missouri on 6-14-1943, the son of the late 
LeRoy John Bertschman, Sr and Ruth Sanders Bertschman. 
He was a Navy veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, a member 
of New Bethel Baptist Church and a retired truck driver 
for U S Express. He was a U of L basketball fan, he 
loved to cook and watch cooking shows on TV, especially 
Rachel Ray. He enjoyed reading and fishing, which 
according to his family, was another peaceful place to read.
 
John is survived by his wife - Martha Jean Howard Bertschman of Hardinsburg,KY
3 children: Alex (Angie) Bertschman of Hardinsburg,KY
Ronda (Darren) Smiley of Irvington,KY
Richard Whitley of Hardinsburg,KY

1 sister: Diana Carwile of Hardinsburg,KY

6 grandchildren: Dylon, Garren, Lindsey, Jessica, 
Cecilia and Sophia

6 sisters-in-law: Doris (Robert) Harrington, 
Shirley (Marshall) Ford, Linda (Rick) Elliott, 
Regina Arnold, Connie(Paul) Reinhardt, Angie & Sam
many nieces and nephews
 
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 
5-14-2008 at 12PM at New Bethel Baptist Church 
with Rev. Johnny Spray and Bro. Darren Smiley 
officiating. Burial will be in the church 
cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday at Trent-Dowell 
Funeral Home from 3-8PM and after 8:30AM Wednesday. 
Memorial contributions are requested to: New Bethel 
Baptist Church Mission Fund or Gideon's International.
