BLANFORD Aged and Highly Esteemed Citizen Was Buried Yesterday Morning After an illness of several weeks Honorable Charles Blanford died at his home near Bewleyville at two o'clock on Wednesday morning. Mr. Blanfor had been in failing health for some time but the end was hastened by a fall about three weeks ago which fractured his hip from which owing to his advanced age of eighty years it was impossible for him to recover.He was a notable figure in Sate politics for many years, serving the Republican party as a vallant leader. He represented his county in the Legislature several terms and was elected Speaker of the House during the Bradley administration and won a reputation for poetics and honesty in this capacity. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, having been Secretary of the Bewleyville Lidge (should be Lodge) twenty-five years. He was a loyal member of the Methodist church and was ever active in advancing the interests of his church and community. In 1861, he joined the army of the Union and served until the close of the Civil war. He was with Sherman in his march to the sea and he carried to the last vivid memories of the scenes and incidents connected with those troublous days. He was one of Breckinridge County's foremost citizens, who has left an impress for good whever he touched life. Fifty-seven years ago he was married to Miss Elizabeth Rose Hardaway, who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Fletcher, Overton and Murray Blanford, a daughter, Mrs. Ray Cain, and a sister, Mrs. Richardson, of Vine Grove. He was laid to rest in the family burying ground on his farm at ten o'clock on Thursday morning with the beautiful Masonic ceremonial conducted by W. J. Piggott. His pastor, Rev. W. L. Baker conducted a short religious service at the home where a number of friends had gathered from all over the county to do him honor. -----.
