Harold was born January 5, 1922 to the late James and Mayme Perry Bolin in Irvington, KY. Harold was a lifelong member of the Irvington United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for 40 years and served wherever he was needed in the church. He graduated from Irvington High School and attended both Kentucky Wesleyan and the University of Louisville only to leave in order to serve his country after Pearl Harbor. He was a veteran of the United States Air Corp and while in the Air Corp was shot down on his 3rd mission, was captured and imprisoned for 22 ½ months in Zagan, Poland and later moved to Germany. Harold served as Postmaster in Irvington for 35 years and was a skilled wood-worker and gardener. Harold was a loving, caring, and compassionate father and husband. He was kind to all and all those who knew him, loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Bolin; sons, Dale (Lisa) Bolin and Joel (Jill) Bolin; grandchildren: Jennifer Bolin Ferguson, Allison Bolin Talley, Robert Bolin, and Eric Bolin; great-grandchildren: Cole and Kate Ferguson; and step-children, Jay Harrington and Marinetta Van Lahr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Bolin; son, Lynn Bolin; daughter, Cynthia Bolin; brother, Orville “J.O.” Bolin; and sister, Reba Bolin. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 1:00 PM EDT from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, KY with burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Irvington, KY. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM EDT and Wednesday after 9:00 AM EDT at the funeral home.
