He was born in Ponza, Italy on September 9, 1902. He was a retired farmer. He is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Clara PALETTA CALISI five daughters: Mrs. Adaline CHAPMAN of New Albany, Indiana Mrs. Mary ROBERTS of Lodiburg, Ky Mrs. Janet SMITH of Lodiburg, Ky Mrs. Rosa Lee COX of Guston, Ky Mrs. Jo Ann SMITH of Guston, Ky two sons: Michael CALISI of Lodiburg, Ky Sam CALISI of Lodiburg, Ky Also surviving are: two brothers: Jimmy CALISI of Denwood, West Virginia Carmine CALISI of Italy 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren Funeral services were held from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington, on Saturday, August 29, 1981. Burial was in the Dry Valley Cemetery. Additional Comments: #0121 Dry Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, located south of the Mystic, New Lodiburg--Union Star Road, 1/2 a mile northwest of the old quarry and Roberts Store. (on Highway 86 between Sample and Lodiburg) -- OPEN TO BURIALS ESTABLISHED APPROXIMATELY 1931 -- CALISI, Clara Mary 02 Nov 1910 -- 12 Nov 1985 wife of Giovanni "John" CALISI daughter of Sam PALETTA & Mary WARSH have her obituary (Immigrant from Italy; Naturalized) she shares a double tombstone with her husband CALISI, Giovanni "John" 09 Sep 1902 -- 27 Aug 1981 born in Ponza, Italy husband of Clara Mary PALETTA; possibly married in Italy parents unknown have his obituary he shares a double tombstone with his wife 1940 census of Union Star, Breckinridge County, listed him as a Naturalized citizen. Believe his wife, Clara, was also considered as a Naturalized citizen, when her husband became a citizen.
