REBECCA CARMAN Mrs. Rebecca CARMAN, age 102, of Woodrow, Ky in Breckinridge County, died on Sunday, February 17, 1963 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown, Ky. She is survived by: two sons: Evans CARMAN of Big Spring, Ky Irvie CARMAN of Woodrow, Ky three daughters: Mrs. Irvie ALEXANDER of Custer, Ky Mrs. Walker BOARD of Custer, Ky Mrs. Walter PILE of Florida 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 19, 1963 at the Locust Hill Methodist Church, under the direction of the Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg. REBECCA EDEN CARMAN CARMAN 2 Oct 1860 Breckinridge County, Ky. -- 17 February 1963 (age 102) Elizabethtown Clipping From Scrapbook: WOMAN, 102, DIED IN HOSPITAL HERE Mrs. Rebecca Carman of Custer Was One of State's Oldest Citizens Mrs. Rebecca CARMAN, one of the state's oldest citizens, died in Hardin Memorial Hospital (Elizabethtown) on Sunday. She was 102 years old on October 2, 1962. Funeral services will be held at Locust Hill today at 2 p.m. Mrs. CARMAN was born October 2, 1860. She remembered many incidents of the war between the states, and often told of them. Until she contracted pneumonia a few days ago, Mrs. CARMAN was active. Her hearing was perfect, her eyesight was remarkably good; she was able to walk about her home and do housework. A few years ago she broke an arm, and in a few days, went back to the doctor and told him to remove the cast. It was bothering her. She drove a tractor at 92. Mr. CARMAN died 23 years ago. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. CARMAN, and five survive her: two sons: Ervie CARMAN of Locust Hill, Ky Evans CARMAN of Nall's Valley, this county three daughters: Mrs. Lester PILE of Hardinsburg, Ky Mrs. Hattie BOARD of Custer, Ky Mrs. Iva ALEXANDER of Custer, Ky Hobert OLIVER of Elizabethtown, Ky is a great nephew, and Mrs. W.L. FIBLE, Jr., this county, is a great granddaughter.
