CART FUNERAL SUNDAY

Noel Merton CART, age 58, of Owensboro, Ky, died Thursday March 10, 1960 at 
Doyle Yard Office of the L. & N. Railroad where he was a clerk.  He was born 
in Lodiburg in Breckinridge County, was a telegraph operator for the railroad 
for several years.  Then he operated a grocery in Irvington, and after selling 
this business, he went to Owensboro and returned to a position with the 
railroad.
     He was a former member of the Breckinridge County Board of Education, a 
Deacon of the Irvington Baptist Church, and a charter member of the Irvington 
Rotary Club.
     The body rested at the Owensboro Funeral Home until Sunday afternoon when 
it was removed to the Irvington Baptist Church for the funeral.  Officiating 
was the Reverend J. D. HERNDON, a former pastor of the Buena Vista Baptist 
Church of which Mr. CART was a member and worker.  Burial was at Cedar Hill 
Cemetery, Irvington.

     Mr. CART was twice married.  First to Miss Ruby PAYNE, who died several 
years ago.  Later he married Mrs. Margaret DeVORE PARKS.  Surviving are:
his wife, Mrs. Margaret D. CART

Robert CART, Kingston, New York
one daughter:
Mrs. Ray RIDDLE, Waco, Texas
one step-daughter:
Miss Peggy PARKS, attending the University of Kentucky
two brothers:
Eldred CART, Louisville, Ky.
Lewis CART, Hopkinsville, Ky. 




Additional Comments:
The Breckinridge County Cemetery Book, Vol. one, has Noel and Ruby listed with 
a tombstone with errors made evidently when the tombstone was copied.  Listed 
as being born in 1801, I believe born 1902 is correct for Noel.  Ruby born 
1801 also, which should be born 1901.
