Mr. COMPTON had been in ill health for several years, but had only been confined to his bed some five weeks. His condition had been critical for several days, and his death was not unexpected. His entire family was at his bedside when death came. Mr. COMPTON was born December 22, 1852. He was married to Miss Laura SEATON 52 years ago. She, with three children survive. They are: Mrs. I. B. RICHARDSON, wife of the Vice President of the Farmers Bank & Trust Company of Hardinsburg, Ky. Russell R. COMPTON, former owner of the Hardinsburg Automobile Company of Hardinsburg, Ky. Paul COMPTON, President of the Federal Fidelity Company of Louisville, Ky. in Jefferson County. At the age of 18 years, Mr. COMPTON united with the Baptist Church of this county, and for the past many years, his name has been familiar to those of the denomination to the remotest part of Breckinridge and adjoining counties, having entered this line of work early in life,. Mr. COMPTON devoted much of his time and attention to the promotion of religious activities, and became an outstanding leader. For more than 20 years he was moderator of Old Goshen Baptist Association, and for a number of years was moderator of the Breckinridge Baptist Association. He was a resident of Garfield a number of years where he owned and operated a farm. He retired 10 years ago, and moved to Hardinsburg.
