Dean, who was born and reared in Cloverport and spent his entire life here, died at his late home in this city, Monday morning at 5:33 o'clock. For several months, Mr. Dean had been ill with Bright's disease and had been confined to his bed the past few weeks. Mr. Dean was 78 years old, and the son of Thomas and Mary Miller Dean, whose home was on west Houston street, the place being owned now by Warfield Collins. He was married in 1880 to Miss Jenny Rogers of this city, who survives with four children, Mrs. Alex Vance of Dallas , Texas, Mrs. Alex L. Schomenoff of St. Louis , Mo., who with her husband are on a tour of Europe this summer; Augustus Dean and Parrish G. Dean of Evansville, Ind. In his early life, Mr. Dean followed the trade of a piano tuner. He was quite musical himself and played the violin. In late years, he devoted most of his time to gardening, and was known as an expert gardener about town, and sold much of his products. Mr Dean was a man of individuality, had a kind heart and was devoted to his family and his grandchildren. He was a great reader and kept in touch.
