OBITUARY
TRAFFIC ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF KENNETH DOWELL
     James Kenneth DOWELL, age 22, of Hardinsburg, was fatally injured when a 
1978 Jeep, in which he was a passenger, overturned Saturday, July 4, 1981, on 
Frosty Miller Road north of Hardinsburg, off Highway 259.
     According to Hardinsburg Police Chief Tom CONKWRIGHT, the driver of the 
Jeep, Robert W. BURNETTE, of Hardinsburg, lost control of the vehicle at the 
entrance of the old Hardinsburg Gun Club.  The mishap occurred at 12:20 p.m.
     The Jeep went off the right side of the road, then went across the road 
when BURNETTE tried to regain control of the vehicle.  The Jeep overturned one 
and 1/4 times, CONKWRIGHT said.
     DOWELL was taken to the emergency room of the Breckinridge Memorial 
Hospital, Hardinsburg, where he was treated for internal injuries.  He died at 
3:37 p.m.  BURNETTE was admitted to the hospital with neck injuries, 
CONKWRIGHT said.
DOWELL is survived by:
his wife, Mrs. Judie TURPIN DOWELL
one daughter
one son
his Mother, Mrs. Dolly HURST MATTINGLY of Irvington, Ky (Breckinridge County)
his father, James DOWELL of Cannelton, Indiana (Perry County)
three sisters
two brothers
grandparents:
Mrs. Isabelle DOWELL of Hardinsburg, Ky
Mr. & Mrs. Leonard (Lonard & Susie) HURST of Cloverport, Ky (Breckinridge 
County)
     The funeral was held on Tuesday, July 7, 1981 at the New Bethel Baptist 
Church.  Burial was in the New Bethel Cemetery, under the direction of Trent-
Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg.
