Mr. DOWELL was seventy-nine years, two months, and fifteen days old, and of this long life he spent seventy- three years at the place of his death. He was a member of the Methodist Church sixty-one years, and part of that time an official member. Mr. DOWELL was a successful farmer. He reared a large family, and gave his children a liberal education. He was a useful man in his community. Someone said of him, "He was a peacemaker." He died in confidence of his neighbors. Mrs. S.G. SHELLEY, of this city, (Cloverport), was his youngest daughter. His other children are Mrs. Alonzo BENNETT of Bewleyville, Mrs. Hettie McCANS of Big Spring, Mrs. Mose BENNETT of Big Spring, and Mr. Gus T. DOWELL of Ekron. The funeral was conducted by the Reverend D.F. Wilson of Big Spring, assisted by the Reverend S.G. SHELLEY, of this city (Cloverport).
