OBITUARY   Page-8  Column-2
     Virgil M. DOWELL, age 90, of Harned, Ky., in Breckinridge County, died on 
Saturday, August 11, 1979 at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital, Hardinsburg, 
following a lengthy illness.  He was born on September 21, 1888 in Breckinridge 
County, a son of the late Green DOWELL and Nancy ADKISSON DOWELL.  He was a 
retired farmer.  His wife, Lula K. DOWELL, died in 1966.
he is survived by:
one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur (Edith) HAYNES of Harned, Ky
two sons:
Robert DOWELL of Valley Station, Ky
Vernon DOWELL of Louisville, Ky
6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren
     Funeral services were held on Monday, August 13, 1979 from the Trent-Dowell 
Funeral Home in Hardinsburg.  Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery.















Additional Comments:
#0139 Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Cemetery; Directions: turn north 
immediately west of "Dead Man's Curve" from KY Highway 60.  The church lies east 
of the road, and is blocked from view by a low ridge; in Breckinridge County, Ky.
