Trent-Dowell Funeral Home Obituary Listings
Retis Leonard Dowell, age 81 of Hardinsburg,KY died Wednesday, 3-26-2008 at 
Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility having resided there for several years. 
He was born in Breckinridge County on 8-7-1926, the son of the late Jeff and 
Lucy Myrtle Williams Dowell. He taught elementary school in Breckinridge and 
Meade Counties, beginning in a one room school in Nortons's Valley. He gave 
piano lessons and tuned and repaired pianos. He was a member for several years 
at Kingswood Wesleyan Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years 
Evelyn  on 8-7-1999. 
 
Leonard is survived by 3 daughters: Sandra Ray (Marvin) Dodson of Contantine,KY
Glenda Shea(Gary Lynn) of Hardinsburg,KY 
Sherry LaLoria (Kevin) Severs of Union Star,KY
Of his 8 brothers and 3 sisters, he is survived by 1 sister Vivian Swango of 
Louisville,KY
5 grandchildren: Glen and Derrick Bruce
Michael Whitworth
Rayna Dodson
 Jess Edward Burton (Jeb) Dodson
3 great grandchildren: Makayla JoAnn and Elijah Kane (Michael's children)
Christian Joseph and his expected brother or sister (Derrick's children) and 
Glen's expected son or daughter
1 step great granddaughter: Cheyanna Marie (Rayna's daughter)
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 3-29-2008 at 1PM at Horsley Chapel 
United Methodist Church with Bro. Steve Swango and Bro. Marvin Dodson 
officiating. Burial will be in  the church cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 
3:30 - 8:00PM and  after 8:30AM Saturday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. Memorial 
contributions are requested to: Leonard Dowell Memorial Fund.
