Joseph A. Downs, age 84 of Hardinsburg,KY died Friday, 5-4-2007 

at Jewish Hospital in Louisville,KY. He was born in McQuady,KY on 

7-15-1922, the son of the late Charles and Nettie Gertrude Hinton 

Downs. He was a retired deckhand, a WWII Army veteran and member 

of St. Romuald Catholic Church and Hardinsburg VFW Post 5831.
 
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe was preceded in death by his 

wife - Helen Whitfill Downs
a son - Randall Joseph Downs
a sister - Geraldine Bland
 
He is survived by 5 children: Larry Downs and his wife Sheila of 

Rineyville,KY
Mickey Downs and his wife Anna Rae of Monticello,KY
Mary Ann Tate and her husband Jimmy of Hardinsburg,KY
Sandi Vessels and her husband Johnny of Rhodelia,KY
Karens Downs of Hardinsburg,KY

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 8,2007 at 10AM CDT 

at St. Romuald Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Bickett officiating. 

Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors 

performed by the Hardinsburg VFW Post 5831. Visitation will be 

held on Monday from 3-8PM CDT and after 8:30AM CDT Tuesday at 

Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are requested 

to: St. Romuald School.
