OBITUARY
     Mr. Garland Dee DUKE, age 83, of Route 3, Hardinsburg, Ky., in Breckinridge 
County, died at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg, on Saturday, 
April 2, 1983, after a long illness.  He was born May 18, 1899, in Butler 
County, Ky., a son of Vol and Sally EMBRY DUKE.
He is survived by:
his wife, Sarah
five daughters:
Mrs. Sally WETHINGTON of Rt.1, Hawesville, Ky
Mrs. Ruby Jane TAUL of Rt.3, Hardinsburg, Ky
Mrs. Cora KELLY of North Vernon, Indiana
Mrs. Pauline JARBOE of Rt.2, Hardinsburg, Ky
Mrs. Barbara SAGO of Hammond, Indiana
two sons:
Frank DUKE of Rt.2, Hardinsburg, Ky
Garland DUKE, Jr. of Rt.1, Vevay, Indiana
33 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren
three sisters:
Mattie BISHOP of Cloverport, Ky
Mae DUKE of Cloverport, Ky
Margaret RUSHER of Hardinsburg, Ky
one brother:
Bill DUKE of Harned, Ky
     Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the New Clover Creek Baptist 
Church, with burial in Freedom Cemetery.  The Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, 
Hardinsburg, was in charge of arrangements.





Additional Comments:
#0139 Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Cemetery; Directions: turn north 
immediately west of "Dead Man's Curve" from KY Highway 60.  The church lies east 
of the road, and is blocked from view by a low ridge.  Breckinridge County, Ky.
