OBITUARY

EVANS, Rev. (Captain) James E., died November 29, 2008 in Lexington, Ky in 
Fayette County.  He was a resident of the Thomson-Hood Veterans Home, Wilmore, 
Ky.  He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1919, graduated from Maryville 
College in Tennessee, and the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
     He served as a pastor in Girard, Ohio, Pittsburgh, PA., Frenchburg, Ky., 
Greensburg, Ky., and Marrowbone, Ky, and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Air 
Corp from 1943 -1945 where he flew 29 missions as a B-17 pilot, and was downed 
and rescued by the Free French.  He traveled with the World War II Museum of 
Louisville as Chaplain.

He was preceded in death by:
his parents (not named)
his wife, Kate (POWELL) EVANS

He is survived by:
two sons
one daughter
6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren
     A memorial Service will be held at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in 
Lexington, Ky on January 24, 2009 at 3 p.m., officiated by Jim Rucker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
