F. French, son of E. and Emily B. French, born in Breckinridge County, June 16, 1870, and died at the home of his parents November 21 at 4:00 a.m. The death angel has visited our home, and tightening his icy clutches around one of the brightest, best loved of its occupants. He carried away a bright, noble man of 24 years, 5 months, 5 days old, just in the prime of life, and so left a vacancy in our home and hearts that can never be filled. He left this country for Groveton, Texas, on January 23, 1892, and there he stayed 1 year, 11 months, 5 days. While there, he taught an 8 months school, and put all his salary which was $600 in the Baptist Church at Groveton, TX, with the exception of what he sent home to his parents to pay his indebtedness in this county. He was told by the Spirit of God, and by His word to settle the last mite before he offered his sacrifice before His altar. He was minister of that church 11 months, until his affliction became so great that he was brought home, December 18, 1893. He was at home 11 months and never was suffering borne with greater patience than was his, never did a murmur escape his lips. He was possessed of perfect calmness and consciousness up to the moment of his death. We feel that his mission on earth was completed, his work was finished. He had lived long enough to fulfill the heavenly will and so depart and be with Christ, was far better than to live longer in this world of sorrow and suffering. When a few hours previous to his death, he looked at all and smiled and said with a happy yet tired and suffering expression, "Mother, I want?" We must all look to God, for we have a just God, and He had a just cause in taking our dear son and brother away. We must look to Him who has so wisely wounded, to bind our bleeding hearts with that healing balm, grace. He leaves a mother and father, 5 brothers, 5 sisters, and many relatives and friends to mourn his loss. But may we all in this our first great trouble, learn to look upon his grave as but the footprints of an angel and to think of him as one of the angels around God's great white throne, is the earnest prayer of his sister, Birdie.
