FRIEL died at his home at Victoria, Ky (Hancock County) at 8:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, January 9, 1904, of consumption (called tuberculosis today). He had been bedfast about 6 weeks, and in failing health for several years. He consulted the best physicians of Louisville, Ky (Jefferson County), but they were unable to aid his case. Mr. FREIL was one of the most prominent men of his section. He was well- known as a storekeeper and a farmer, and was also popular as a school teacher. He was well-liked by all his acquaintances, and was a good citizen. Death came in the prime of life. Mr. FRIEL is survived by: a wife (not named here) one daughter: Addie FRIEL of Victoria, Ky three sons: Francis FRIEL of Victoria, Ky Emmett FRIEL of Victoria, Ky Freddie FRIEL of Victoria, Ky He also leaves three brothers: Mike FRIEL Charles FRIEL James FRIEL The interment was held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., January 10, 1904, at St. Rose's Cemetery, on the Victoria Road about 2 miles from this city (Cloverport, Ky). The funeral service was held at the grave, Father Edwin DRURY, of Knottsville, officiating, in the absence of Father BREY, Pastor of St. Rose's at Lewisport (should be at Cloverport??). Besides friends and relatives scattered over the county, the funeral was attended by the Local A.O.U.W. Lodge, of which Mr. FRIEL was a member, with an insurance of $2,000.00. Mrs. John BURK attended the last illness and funeral of her cousin, Joseph FRIEL.
