Obituary

Mrs. Ola SMITH GARDNER, died Friday, November 4, 1960 at the home of Miss 
Nelle K. SMITH in Irvington (Breckinridge County), Ky.  She returned from 
Louisville Thursday after being in the hospital, and at the home of her 
sister, Mrs. W. L. COX for a few weeks.  The body rested at the W. G. Heady 
Funeral Home until 11:00 a.m., and at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. where 
the funeral was held at 2:00.  Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery located on a 
high Hill overlooking the town of Irvington.

Mrs. GARDNER, who spent most of her life at Irvington, was the daughter of the 
late Mr. and Mrs. James R. SMITH of Guston (Meade County), Ky.  For many years 
she and her husband, the late Newsome (should be spelled Newson) GARDNER, 
operated a dry goods store in Irvington.  Later Mrs. GARDNER did practical 
nursing in private homes, Jenny Stewart Hospital in Hopkinsville, and 
Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg.  For several years, she was 
reception nurse in the office of  Dr. W. H. BROWN in Irvington, Ky.  She was a 
member of the Irvington Baptist Church.  Surviving her besides Mrs. Cox is a 
brother, Dale SMITH of Louisville (Jefferson County), Ky. and several nieces 
and nephews.
