DEAD
Joseph A. GILLILAND, of Stephensport (Breckinridge County, Ky.), died at his 
home Sunday night.  He was a member of the Christian Church, and was born in 
Chenault (Breckinridge County, Ky.) in 1838.

Obituary
The funeral of Joseph A. GILLILAND of Chenault, Ky., occurred last Sunday at 
the Southern Methodist Church.

Joseph A. GILLILAND, born 1838 near Chenault, Breckinridge County, Ky., and 
lived his entire life here.  He married Miss Sallie VERTREES of Arkansas in 
April 1872, who died in 5 short months, and left him to roam alone in the 
world.  He joined the Christian Church in 1890 under the preaching of Elder C. 
A. MANKER, of Scottsburg, Indiana. 
Surviving him are:
two sisters:
Mrs. BRODIE  (no residence given)
Mrs. ROBERTS (no residence given)
one brother:
James GILLILAND (no residence given)
The funeral was conducted by Reverend Elder A. F. BEARE at Stephensport, Ky.  
Buried in the cemetery of the Southern Methodist Church.
Uncle Joe GILLILAND, born February 28, 1838 and died February 3, 1899.
Age 60 years, 11 months, 3 days old.



Additional Comments:
I did not find a tombstone for Joseph in the Breckinridge County Cemeteries, 
volume one, published in 1991.
