Breckinridge County News; 8/23/1899
R. W. Hayes died at his residence in this place last Friday after a protracted
illness.  Mr. Hayes was 56 years of age, and moved here last Spring from Fordsville.
 Mr. Hayes was a native of this county, but spent several years in the revenue
service, which called him away from here.  The funeral service took place at the M.
E. church South Sunday night after the arrival of his children who had been informed
by telegraph of his death.  The remains accompanied by friends were taken to his old
home in the lower part of the county Monday morning for burial.
