H. HAYNES -CONTRIBUTED- H. H. HAYNES was born near Garfield, (Breckinridge County), Ky. on February 15, 1876, and died July 4, 1960 in his 85th year. He was the fifth of ten children of Dudley and Lucy McCOY HAYNES. One sister and one brother are living, Mrs. W. H. LeGRAND and S. M. HAYNES of Hardinsburg, Ky. He remained with his parents until 21 years of age, and then went to Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, joining an older brother, J. Tom HAYNES. While there he married Miss Sina CORDER, a sister of his brother's wife. She was a school teacher, and a talented artist. To this union were born seven children. Five survive: one daughter: Lucy LUTTREL, Electra, Texas four sons: Raymond HAYNES, Electra, Texas Elwood HAYNES, Electra, Texas Paul D. HAYNES, Electra, Texas Cecil HAYNES, Corpus Christa, Texas After the death of her mother and her husband, Lucy was a constant attendant, a dutiful daughter to the end. He established himself as an outstanding, influential citizen and businessman. He was one of the most extensive land owners and farmers in his county, had planted as much as 1,000 acres of cotton in one year. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a 33 degree Mason. He was elected County Commissioner in 1918, served continiously until death, a period of 42 years, another record for his county. A stalwark physic, a towering 6 foot 6 inches tall, he had 335 pounds. A big man, a big farmer with a big heart, and a distinctive vision of what his country could and would do with the blending of brains and brawn.
