MRS. WILLIAM HICKERSON AND SON --
     A double funeral was held on Saturday, January 26, 1929 for Mrs. 
William HICKERSON and her 15-year-old son, which was conducted at the New 
Bethel Baptist Church.
     Mrs. HICKERSON before her marriage was Miss Elizabeth DOWELL, the 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mack DOWELL of near Hardinsburg.  She was near 38 
years of age. Ill with pneumonia, and died at noon on Friday, January 25, 
1929, just three hours before the death of her oldest son, John HICKERSON, 
who had been ill for two weeks.  Mrs. HICKERSON had been ill 10 days.

James HICKERSON
Curtis HICKERSON

Mrs. William ADCOX

Ernest DOWELL    ALL OF BRECKINRIDGE COUNTY
     Mr. HICKERSON is quite ill of pneumonia, and is in the care of a 
trained nurse, as was the other members of the family.
     The funeral was conducted by the Reverend B. M. Winters, Pastor of the 
Methodist Episcopal Church of Hardinsburg.  Mrs. HICKERSON was a member of 
the Methodist Church at Sample (in Breckinridge County).  The burial was 
held in the Bethel Burying Ground, which is near the church.
     The relatives of Mr. HICKERSON who are residents of Illinois were 
expected to attend the funeral, but on account of illness in their homes, 
were unable to come.
     The HICKERSONS had a son who was drowned just a year ago while crossing 
a stream on horseback.

(James is also a son of William & Elizabeth.  See his death certificate 
information I have posted to this Archives site.)

I searched and searched for the death certificates for Elizabeth and her 
son, John on Ancestry.  Their certificates must not have been filed by the 
doctor.  I could not find them.
Then I searched for William and his children, and they did not die in 
Kentucky.  BUT, I did finally find them in Alton, East Alton, and Godfrey, 
Illinois; all towns are in Madison County.  Edwardsville is the county seat.  
I know this because some of my OSBORNE family left Breckinridge County, and 
moved to Alton, Illinois as well.
I did not find their daughter Lucile HICKERSON who was 20 years old and 
single on the Breckinridge County Census for 1930.

I did not find the burial or a tombstone of father, William "Willie" 
HICKERSON, Sr., but I found this:

born 19 July 1888
died Feb 1971
lived at Cottage Hills, Madison County, Illinois
He got his social security card in Illinois
(I found William listed as Willie in the 1930 census of Breckinridge County, 
Ky.)
