Louisville Metro Police were dispatched to an accident around 6:30 a.m. ET just north of the intersection of Dixie Highway and KY 44 near the Hardin County line. According to Alicia SMILEY, public information officer with Louisville Metro Police, a Dodge Neon driven by Christopher PHILLIPS, 17, was southbound on Dixie Highway when the car hit a patch of ice. The Dodge crossed the median and collided head-on with a northbound Ford car driven by Jerry Allen HARVEY, 28, whose address was unavailable. The Dodge was then struck by a northbound pickup truck, causing the car to catch fire. Two passengers in the back seat of the Dodge--Jessica DOWELL, 18, and Christopher KIPER, 18, both of Hardinsburg were pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Rita Taylor. A third passenger, Matthew ALDRIDGE, 18, of Garfield, was ejected from the front passenger's seat. ALDRIDGE was transported to University Hospital, where he died of multiple blunt-force injuries. According to Taylor, the three teens all died of multiple blunt-force injuries. Smiley said the four friends were returning home from a teen dance club on Bardstown Road. She told "The Herald-News" Tuesday morning that investigators were confident neither alcohol nor drugs contributd to the accident. Both ALDRIDGE and DOWELL were seniors at BCHS, and KIPER was a junior. PHILLIPS was reportedly a former student.
