OBITUARY

     Mrs. Pearl MATTHEWS, age 88, of Route 3, Hardinsburg, died at 8 a.m. on 
Tuesday, December 8, 1987, at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital, in 
Hardinsburg.
     Mrs. MATTHEWS was born in Ohio County, Ky on May 9, 1899, a daughter of 
the late W. A. BASHAM and Laura ANDERSON.  She was a retired school teacher, 
and a member of the New Clover Creek Baptist Church.
Her husband, John Homer MATTHEWS, preceded her in death on June 22, 1981.
Surviving her are:
one sister, Ms. Myra E. BASHAM of Hardinsburg, Ky
a niece and several nephews.
     The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 10, 1987, from the New 
Clover Creek Baptist Church, with the Dhonau-Wallace Funeral Home, Cloverport 
in charge of arrangements.  Burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery.
