All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ky/kyfiles.html ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Peggy Russell meemawpeg7@gmail.com April 28, 2022, 3:01 am Breckinridge News, Cloverport, Ky., Wednesday, April 7, 1937 OBITUARY Page 1 ENOCH MEADOR DIED FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN AUTOMOBILE WRECK-- Car Sideswiped on Highway 60 By Car With Daviess County License-- WIDOW AND INFANT SON SLIGHTLY INJURED-- Another has been added to the roll of the dead, and to the endless list of automobile fatalities, and a home bereft of husband, father, and son, in the death of Enoch MEADOR, which occurred Sunday afternoon following a motor accident of late Saturday afternoon on Highway 60, 2 miles west of Hardinsburg. Mr. MEADOR with his wife and two year old son, Charles Hardin MEADOR, had been to Cloverport for the afternoon, and were returning to their country home beyond Harned on the old Freedom Road; Driving slowly along and enjoying the Spring afternoon, the little family saw a car approaching at a terrible rate, and before one can speak, the MEADOR'S car was sideswiped and practically demolished. Mrs. MEADOR and son were thrown from the car, and sustained only slight bruises and cuts, but Mr. MEADOR was pinned behind the steering wheel, and sustained a terrible scalp wound, from which he died Sunday afternoon, April 4, 1937. Those of the other car, bearing a Daviess County (Ky) license. and carrying several occupants, were also injured, some of them seriously. Someone passing the wreck took part of the injured to the office of Dr. J. E. Kincheloe, and R. T. Dowell ambulance was called to the scene, many carried the most seriously injured to the doctor's office where they were given emergency care. Later in the night, Mr. MEADOR accompanied by his wife and other relatives, was taken to his home where he lingered for several hours. Members of the other party were taken to Louisville. Mr. MEADOR was 39 years old, and the son of Mrs. C. P. MEADOR, who resides in her son's home, and has been ill for several weeks. He was married on December 24, 1932 to Miss Lucille KINDER, the daughter of the late Hardin KINDER of Cloverport. Enoch is survived by: his mother the widow and young son three brothers: Oscar MEADOR of Garfield, Ky Ernon MEADOR of Chula Vista, California William MEADOR of Alberta, Canada two sisters: Mrs. Burton BASHAM of the Freedom community Mrs. George TABOR of the Freedom community The funeral was held in the Freedom Church on Monday afternoon with the Reverend J. T. Wilson officiating. Interment was in the church graveyard. PALLBEARERS: Franklin MEADOR C. W. F. KINDER & daughter Miss Edith KINDER, Herman KINDER & Mrs. Silas Miller of Cloverport Mr. MEADOR owned a small farm where he died, and was known throughout the county as an industrious young man; reliable, kind, and considerate of his family and loved ones 2 Additional Comments: #0139 Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Cemetery; Directions: turn north immediately west of "Dead Man's Curve" from Kentucky Highway 60.
