H. Pemberton, Rock Vale, Ky. Thursday, December 13, 1894, Jubel Meador, in the 95th year of his age. Uncle Jubel as he was called, was born in Bedford County, Virginia, February 26, 1800. When about 8 years old his parents moved to Ky., and settled near Hardinsburg, Breckinridge County. He was married to Miss Betsy Hanks about 1820. To this union were born 10 children, 5 sons and 5 daughters, 5 of which still survive him. They are: Mrs. Eliza Parsons Mrs. Margaret Overton Mrs. Rhoda Carwile Thomas Meador Dr. J. W. Meador In the year 1827, he moved to Indiana, but failing in health, returned to Breckinridge County, where he has resided since with the exception of one year he lived with his son, Dr. J. W. Meador of Shrieve (Shreve), Ohio County, Ky. Uncle Jubel cast his first vote for president in 1824 when he voted for Andrew Jackson. His wife died on December 10, 1890 after which he married again. His second wife was Mrs. Betsy Harder, widow of William Harder. She died November 5, 1893, after which he became much dissatisfied and failed rapidly in health. He was a devoted member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and spent much of his time in his last days reading the Bible. He was laid to rest in Union Chapel Cemetery on the evening of the 14th, thereby a long and useful life has ended. Written by D. C.
