James Ronald “JR” Miller, 77, of Falls of 
the Rough, KY passed away January 1, 2017 
at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY 
following an extended illness.

JR was born July 19, 1939 in Owensboro, KY 
to the late William Clarence and Frances McCoy 
Miller. JR lived a very varied life, after 
serving over 20 years in the Army and receiving 
a Bronze Star, the MSM (Meritorious Service Award) 
and serving at stations in Japan, China, Viet Nam, 
Okinawa and the Philippines until he retired. 
After retirement, he worked for the DIA (Defense 
Intelligence Agency) in different areas overseas. 
During this period of his life he received 2 
Bachelor’s Degrees from the University of Maryland. 
He also was a member of the VFW.

Besides his parents, JR was preceded in death 
by 3 brothers, William Clarence, Darrell Eugene 
and Larry Wayne Miller.

Leaving behind to mourn his passing, but 
celebrating the life that he lived is his 
wife, Teresita “Tess” Catarinen Miller; sons, 
James Thomas & Noriko Miller of Japan, Robert 
Jonathan Miller of Okinawa and William Jefferson 
& Amiko Miller of Guam; brother, Joseph Michael 
& Carol Miller of Culpeper County, VA; sister, 
Cheryl Ann Faulkner of Canton, GA; 3 
grandchildren.

Funeral Mass for JR will be held 11:00 am 
Friday, January 6 at St. Rose of Lima with 
Fr. Dan Kreutzer officiating. Burial will follow 
at Cloverport Cemetery with Military Honors.
