R. MORRIS Vine Grove, Ky (Hardin County) August 31, 1904 (Special) A well-known merchant of Big Spring, this county, died at his home there this morning after a brief illness of Bright's Disease at age 71 years. Mr. MORRIS was prominent in church work, and was an enthusiastic Mason, being a member of the Royal Arch Degree. He is survived by a widow and a large family of children, and was the father-in-law of the Reverend D. L. COLLIE, a widely known and prominent devine of the Methodist Church. He was 72 years old, and had lived here over 40 years, and had been in business most of this time. Mr. MORRIS had been confined to his bed for 6 weeks, and was a great sufferer most of the time. He leaves a widow, who is his second wife, four married daughters and two sons. He will be greatly missed in his business circle, and from the Methodist Church, of which he was a devout member for 50 years. MORRIS was probated in the County Court Monday. His two sons, Charles and John, were appointed, and qualified for as Executors. Additional Comments: I did not find a tombstone for Mr. MORRIS in the Breckinridge County Cemetery Book, volume 1, published in 1991. I did find three MORRIS burials at the Big Spring-Corners United Methodist Church, located on the north side of Highway 333 in the Big Spring section of Breckinridge County, just east of the common corner of Breckinridge, Meade, and Hardin Counties. The town of Big Spring lies in all three counties. MORRIS, John L. 1879 -- 1954 MORRIS, Nan E. 1880 -- 1967 MORRIS, William G. 1896 -- 1956 John L MORRIS could be the son of Mr. A. R. MORRIS. These 3 tombstones are the only MORRIS burials with tombstones in Volume 1 cemetery book.
