Obituary

Joseph Maurice NEWBY, age 29 of Louisville (Jefferson County), Ky., a salesman 
for Donaldson Baking Company, was killed in a truck accident at 7th. and Hill 
Street on August 19, 1960.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 22, 1960, at St. Mary of the Woods 
Catholic Church at McQuady (Breckinridge County), Ky.  Burial was in the 
church cemetery with the Dowell Funeral Home of Hardinsburg (Breckinridge 
County), Ky. in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were:
Jeffy MATTINGLY
Joe PAYNE
Harold MATTINGLY
Russell BROWN
Olen BROWN
Clarence BROWN

Surviving Mr. NEWBY are:
his wife, Mrs. Martha MALEY NEWBY and four small children
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl NEWBY, McQuady, Ky.
five sisters:
Miss Ann NEWBY, Owensboro (Daviess County), Ky.
Mrs. Bob BIVENS, Owensboro, Ky.
Mrs. Raymond WOODWARD, Owensboro, Ky.
Mrs. Pat SHERRON, McQuady, Ky.
Mrs. Frank BOWLDS, Louisville, Ky.




Additional Comments:
Joseph and his wife Martha have tombstones, and I believe I found an infant of 
theirs as well.

St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church Cemetery, located on Ky Highway 105, .4 
mile of junction with Ky. Highway 261 in McQuady, Ky.

NEWBY, Joseph Maurice  March 3, 1931 -- August 19, 1968 (we know for sure that 
date is incorrect.  He died in 1960.)  A1C USAF is on his tombstone which 
translates to:  Airman 1st Class, United States Air Force.  I think it is 
possible that Joseph has a Military Tombstone.  husband of Martha J.

and next to them is an infant.
