OBITUARY   1910-1996
     Ernest Lee NORTON, age 86, of Irvington, Ky., in Breckinridge County, died on 
Tuesday, December 3, 1996 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital, Hardinsburg, after a 
lengthy illness.  He was born on July 9, 1910 in Breckinridge County, a son of the 
late Louis and Ida DOWELL NORTON. 
     He was a farmer and was employed with Community Milling Company at Irvington 
for 26 years, was a member of Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 74 years, 
and was a member of Modern Woodmen of America for 53 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene NORTON, in 1995.
     He is survived by:
three daughters
two sons
three brothers
9 grandchildren; 26 step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren
     The funeral was held Saturday, December 7, 1996 at Freedom Cumberland 
Presbyterian Church near Garfield.  Burial was in the church cemetery, with the 
Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington, in charge of arrangements.

immediately west of "Dead Man's Curve" from Kentucky Highway 60.  The church lies 
east of the road, and is blocked from view by a low ridge.
