LUCY J. PATE Mrs. Lucy J. PATE, one of the oldest citizens of Cloverport, Ky., in Breckinridge County, died at 10:30 o'clock Monday evening March 22, 1926 at her home on the Hill (in Cloverport). Her death was caused by cancer of the liver. She had been in ill health for a number of years, but had been confined to her bed about two weeks Mrs. PATE was the daughter of John and Mary E. PATE, born near Cloverport on a farm March 10, 1847, and died March 22, 1926, having reached her seventy-ninth birthday just three days before her death. On February 22, 1866 she was married to Remus A. PATE of Cloverport. To this union eight children were born, five of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Cornelia PERKINS of Dayton, Ohio Mrs. J. N. BRICKEY of Norwich, Kansas Mrs. R. S. BURDETTE of Tobinsport, Indiana W. C. PATE of Hardinsburg, Ky L. R. PATE of Cloverport, Ky THE DECEASED ARE: Mrs. T. N. HAWKINS Mrs. G. R. PATE Owen PATE Besides having reared a large family, Mrs. PATE had cared for several grandchildren who were left motherless when quite young. There is also surviving a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her entire life was spent in Breckinridge County, and for the past 19 years she had lived in Cloverport. Mrs. PATE was a quiet home-loving woman; she was loyal to her home and neighbors, and was never so happy as when expecting the Home-Comings when her large family would be gathered around her table. She was very consciousentious, a Christian character whose life was an example to her family. She was a m/ember of the Cloverport Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at the residence at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning with the Reverend B. F. Wilson, officiating. The body will be taken to Taul's graveyard for interment.
