PETITT (JOHN WILLIAM PETITT) Ammons, Breckinridge County, Ky, March 24 (Special) William J. PETITT, age 78, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James MORGAN and Mr. MORGAN, Sunday morning March 17, 1929 at 1:00. Mr. PETITT had been in failing health for sometime, and had been very sad since the death of his wife, a little more than two months ago. He seemed to welcome death when he learned of it's approach. He was a well known and highly respected citizen of the community. He is survived by: four daughters: Mrs. Clem PAYNE of Humboldt, Illinois (Coles County) Mrs. Lula WEEDMAN of Vincennes, Indiana (Knox County) not Illinois? Mrs. Clarence MORGAN of Vincennes, Indiana (not Illinois?) Mrs. MORGAN of this place (Cloverport, Ky) one son: Thomas PETITT of Cloverport, Ky one sister: Mrs. Gertrude LYONS of Jeffersonville, Indiana (Clark County) The funeral was conducted on Monday afternoon (March 18, 1929) at the Ammons Baptist Church, by the Reverend H. S. ENGLISH. Voting Precinct- Union Star, Breckinridge County, Ky. died at age 82 years, 4 months, 2 days old Name of Father: Benjamin HAWKINS born Clark County, Indiana Name of Mother: Lucy GOODMAN born Clark County, Indiana Informant: James MORGAN of Ammons, Ky. Burial was on January 3, 1929 at Ammons, Ky. Hattie's husband: Death Certificate #08344 Registrar's number- 09 Registration District number- 4355 John William PETITT, male, white, widowed, farmer born April 17, 1850 Indiana died March 17, 1929 at 1:00 a.m. in Voting Precinct- Union Star died at age 78 years, 11 months, 1 day old Name of Father: Thomas PETITT born Indiana Name of Mother: Mary NEAL born Indiana The space where the name of his wife should have been given, was left blank. Informant: James MORGAN of Ammons, Ky Burial was on March 18, 1929 at Ammons, Ky James MORGAN of Ammons is the husband of Ottie Gay PETITT, daughter of John W. and Hattie HAWKINS PETITT. This couple is also buried at English Baptist Church Cemetery: MORGAN, Ottie Gay born 08 May 1870 Madison, Indiana died 12 July 1945 Addison, Breckinridge County, Ky Information from her Death Certificate #13965 She was buried on 15 July 1945 at Ammons, Ky Tombstone has her birth date: born 08 April 1870 Ottie's husband" MORGAN, James W. born 24 Mar 1866 Meade County, Ky died 04 Nov 1945 Western State Hospital, rural Hopkinsville in Christian County, Ky. His Death Certificate #22845 states James was a patient for only 4 days, and died from a cerebral hemorrhage. His parents and their places of birth was listed as unknown, going only by hospital records, dying only 4 months as his wife, Ottie. I found on Ancestry.com where Ottie PETITT and James MORGAN were married in Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana on July 6, 1891. I did not find a tombstone for Hattie and John's other child who lived around Ammons, namely Thomas Benjamin PETITT. The rest of their children lived outside of Breckinridge County according to Hattie and John's obituaries.
