H. PILE Surrounded by approximately 1,800 acres of very productive land, growing crops, pure-bred livestock, and much of material wealth. O. H. PILE, farmer of Mook, Ky., (in Breckinridge County), passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, July 20, 1948. Mr. PILE, or "Bill" as he was known to his friends and business associates, was stricken early Tuesday morning with a cerebral Hemorrhage, and rushed to the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He died there just after 7 o'clock Tuesday morning. Though he was given every care, Mr. PILE failed to respond in any way, and never regained consciousness. The body was removed to the R. T. DOWELL Funeral Home, and later to his farm home at Mook. There the funeral was held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, the Reverend Finley Hardison, officiating. Pallbearers were six men who assisted in operating the large farm. Committal service took place in a family cemetery on the farm where Mr. PILE was born, reared, and has since resided. Mud was hub deep in the vicinity of the Pile home Thursday because of a flood of rain on Tuesday night, which fell on a newly graded highway. However, approximately 500 people gathered for the funeral and committal services. Many of these came in road wagons and horseback, to pay the last tribute of respect to one who had spent his life among them, and lived with the ambition of his life, that of building more productive farm lands and reclaiming the soil that might otherwise have been wasted. Mr. PILE was the son of Christopher C. and Bettie BRUNER PILE, and at the time of his death, was 57 years of age. He is survived by: his widow, Ora ARMES PILE six children: Harold PILE Anna Louise PILE Alliene PILE Franklin PILE Bettie Sue PILE Gary Joe PILE one sister: Mrs. Henry HAYS of Hardinsburg, Ky one brother: Homer PILE of Louisville, Ky. He was a member of a large and well-known family, and among his brothers was the late Joel PILE, well-known educator of this county for many years, also the late Wade PILE of Hardinsburg. Owner of perhaps more land than any other individual farmer in Breckinridge County, Mr. PILE first purchased his parental home, and to this he added tract after tract of land. This extended in every direction, and much of the vast acreage had been raised to a very high state of cultivation. Upon the farm now excellent crops are growing and herds of fine cattle are being prepared for market.
