Mrs. POWELL was 81 years of age, and had been an invalid for more than a year. Her death was not unexpected. The following children survive: Vanda POWELL of Louisville, Ky Mrs. J. W. BURNETT of Louisville, Ky Mrs. John TRIPLET of Bewleyville, Ky Mrs. P. J. HOWARD of Stanton, Tennessee Howard POWELL of Stanton, Tennessee Wheeler POWELL of Stanton, Tennessee James POWELL of Brownsville, Texas Miss Jakie POWELL of Birmingham, Alabama All of the children attended the funeral except the latter, who is ill in an Alabama Hospital. She is also survived by: over 100 grandchildren one sister, Mrs. A. T. DECKER of Louisville, Ky An only brother, Lewis ASHLEY of Kansas, died a few months ago. Mrs. POWELL was married on July 4, 1869, and the mother of thirteen children, all of whom lived to be grown, with the exception of one, who died in infancy; three grown sons preceded her in death. Mrs. POWELL lived a beautiful life, in her sacrifices and devotion to her family and her untiring interest in friends and in the work of the church. She was sweet, modest, and had a beautiful faith in spiritual things. Mrs, POWELL was fond of her grandchildren, and though there were so large a number, she had an interest in the welfare of each. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Epicopal Church South, and was a regular attendant so long as her health permitted. She had spent the greater part of the time with the GLASSCOCKS for the past thirteen years. The funeral was conducted at the GLASSCOCK home on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends of the family. The service was in charge of the Reverend C. D. Owen, pastor of the Methodist Church. As requested before her death, "Amazing Grace" was beautifully rendered in a duet by Mrs. Lee SMALLWOOD and Mrs. D. C. MOORMAN, Jr., accompanied on the piano by Mrs. W. R. MOORMAN, Jr. The PALLBEARERS were: Hale POWELL Jim HOCKENBERRY B. D. POWELL Ray ASHLEY Harry POWELL Wilbur LEWIS The burial took place in the Glen Dean Cemetery.
