Trent-Dowell Funeral Home
John William Purcell, age 90 of Hardinsburg,KY died Wednesday, 3-11-2009 at 
his residence. He was born in McQuady, Kentucky on 9-27-1918, the son of the 
late Warren and Edna Duncan Purcell. He retired from Texas Gas Transmissions, 
was a member of Hardinsburg United Methodist Church and was a WWII Army 
veteran.
 
He enjoyed reading, watching TV, playing Solitaire the old fashioned way - 
with a deck of cards and working crossword puzzles.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife - Christine Purcell
 
John is survived by 4 children: Susan (Shelby) Shelman of Hardinsburg,KY
George (Sylvia) Purcell of Louisville,KY
Jack (Lil) Purcell of Colorado
Jerry (Dee) Purcell of California
9 grandchildren
1 sister - Jean Lewis of Louisville,KY
1 sister-in-law: Evelyn Purcell of Hardinsburg,KY
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 3-14-2009 at 11AM CDT at 
Hardinsburg United Methodist church with Rev. Greg Shannon officiating. Burial 
will be in the Ivy Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation on Friday at 
Trent-Dowell Funeral Home from 4-8PM CDT and after 8:30AM CST Saturday.
