S. SEYMOUR AT ELIZABETHTOWN THURSDAY AND H.T.F. GREGORY AT EVANSVILLE -- FUNERALS AT ADOPTED HOMES -- Two former, well-known citizens of Cloverport, died last Thursday, August 18, 1904. J. S. SEYMOUR passed away at Elizabethtown, Ky (Hardin County) Thursday afternoon, of typhoid fever, after an illness of one month, and H.T. Fillmore GREGORY died of heart trouble and dropsy at Evansville, Indiana (Vanderburgh County). Mr. SEYMOUR was 34 years of age, leaves a wife and five children. He is also survived by his mother, a brother, and two sisters, who reside in New Albany, Indiana (Floyd County), his native city. Mrs. J. W. WEATHERHOLT, of this city (Cloverport), is a sister of Mrs. SEYMOUR. Mr. SEYMOUR was the proprietor of the Elizabethtown Steam Laundry, and stood well with the business men of that city. About 3 years ago, he went to Elizabethtown from this city, where he operated a laundry for several years. He was a member of A.O.U.W. and the M.W.A lodges, in which he carried $1,000.00 insurance each. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, August 19, 1904, from the Elizabethtown Methodist Church, of which he was a member. H. T. FILLMORE GREGORY was better known as "Phil" GREGORY. He was once in the steamboat business at Evansville, Indiana (Vanderburgh County), and at Louisville, Ky (Jefferson County), where he was well-known among river men. He was a clerk for the local warehouse of Louisville and Evansville Packet Company, in the latter part of the 1880's, when he went to Louisville to live. Mr. GREGORY was about 46 years of age. He was born and reared in Cloverport, and was the son of John and Jane GREGORY. He married Miss KEISER of Louisville, Ky, who, with his four sons, survive him. He leaves the following relatives also: Mrs. Lucy KEISER of Louisville, Ky (an own sister) J. D. GREGORY of Cloverport, Ky (a half brother) Mrs. William E. MORTON of Glendeane (a half sister) Mrs. Statira BATT of Cannelton, Indiana (Perry County) (a half sister) Mrs. Dorcus BRADLEY of Owensboro, Ky (Daviess County) (a half sister) The funeral was held at Evansville, Indiana, which was Mr. GREGORY'S home after he left Louisville, Ky.
