The son of the late Phines Sr. and Hallie Beatty Smiley was born on January 23, 1915 in the Westview area of Breckinridge County. Mr. Smiley was a farmer and was preceded in death by his wife Elnora Parks Smiley on July 24, 1991. He was a member of the Westview United Methodist Church, former Master of the Breckinridge Masonic Lodge # 67, a Kentucky Colonel who enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren, reading his bible and the newspaper and riding horses. Phinus Smiley Jr. is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Norita Smiley of Harned, Ky. Two grandchildren Jayme Knochel and her husband Corey of Hardinsburg Ky. and Teri Moreland and her husband Michael of Hardinsburg, Ky. Four great grandchildren also survive, Avery, Colby and Larkyn Knochel and Carsen Moreland. Funeral Services for Phinus Smiley Jr. will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the Westview United Methodist Church in Westview, Ky. at 11:00 a.m. cdt with burial to follow the services at Kingswood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. cdt and from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. cdt on Tuesday at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. The Reverends Rick Bourland, Wayne Parks and Janet Carden will conduct the service under the direction of the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. The family asks that expressions of sympathy take place in the form of contributions to the Westview United Methodist Church Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
