The funeral was held February 9, 1960 from the Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington, and the burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Irvington. He was born and reared in Irvington, Ky., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. C. SMITH, long time residents of Irvington. He was married about 35 years ago to Miss Mary BROWN, a member of a well known family of Breckinridge County. Mr. SMITH, as a young man, was employed by the Irvington Milling Company. Due to his early training and skills in the milling business, he later was employed by General Mills in the Louisville plant. He was promoted to an executive position in the late 1940's, and transferred to the offices of General Mills in Atlanta. Together with his wife, he had continued to make his home in Atlanta since his retirement, some 3 years ago. Surviving are his wife one sister: Miss Nelle K. SMITH, formerly cashier of the Irvington State Bank. One brother: Harry L. SMITH, President of the Otis Hidden Company, Louisville, Ky. Additional Comments: He has a tombstone SMITH, Roland W. Oct 1, 1887 -- February 6, 1960 Atlanta, Georgia, the county seat of Fulton County, and a small portion of the city extends eastward into DeKalb County.
