G. Stephens. The death of Mr. James G. Stephens, which occured at his beautiful country hone, "Alta Vista," at Addison, Saturday morning, at two o'clock, was a sad blow to his relatives and friends. His health had been failing for some months but he was confined to his room only a few weeks. Mr. Stephens was one of the most honored citizens of Breckinridge county. He was a Mason and a cultured gentleman. His nature was singularly sweet and had won him many friends. He was seventy years old and had been twice married. His first wife was Miss Sallie Helm, of Union Star, whose daughter is Mrs. T. J. Minary, of Louisville. His second wife was Miss Brock Minor, of Bardstown, who with two daughters, Mrs. Caldwell Norton, of Louisville, and Mrs. James Clark Simm, Jr., of Chicago, and a son, Mr. Minor Stephens, of Lakeland, Florida, survives him. The funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at eleven o'clock, by Rev. Ferrall, of Hawesville. He was laid to rest in the family graveyard by the Cloverport Masonic Lodge, of which he was a member, Mr. George T. Harris, of Henderson, conducting the service in a beautiful and impressive manner. The day was an ideal spring day and many friends from all over the county attended the funeral and burial services. The Masons here chartered a special train to take them and other friends to Addison. Mr. Stephens' popularity was clearly shown by the many friends who hastened to pay him the last tribute of respect and admiration. In the death of Mr. Stephens the county has lost one of its best citizens and his circle of friends and relatives, one of its most cherished members. The New extends sympathy to the greatly bereaved family.
